OK, so I know I can enlarge text in Fire Fox and Chrome and so forth.. but a growing number of of sites (e.g The New Yorker) provide the ability to resize text (usually 3 choices) and it's cookie stored so that every time the site is revisited, that text size is..automatacilly, magically, there. I don't personally need it, but I bet some older folks do. 'oh yes I do', he mumbled

OK, I've tried fixing this myself, and I give up. Why is AskMe displaying text at a different size font to every other part of Metafilter on my home computer? [more inside]

Reading works just fine already, either via RSS or just a text-mode browser. Posting is a little harder. Links, Elinks, and w3m all seem baffled by the login---Elinks, for example, reloads the login page, while w3m gets back to the question but then asks me to log in again. Does anyone know why this is so? Is there some common unsupported standard that prevents these browsers from logging in? (Note: It happens with a lot of sites that need login, not just MeFi.)

Is there some kind of residual April Fools joke going on? There's a weird glitch in the way MeFi displays for me over time. [more inside]

When this post shows up in Recent Activity, the long small-text quote gets truncated, the <small> tag is never closed, and the rest of Recent Activity is rendered small.

Ooh, I'm so excited! My very first pedantic MetaTalk post! The text of the link on the user favorites page says "You can also view a list of the most popular in the last 24 hours," but the actual Popular Favorites page lists the "most favorited posts in the past 7 days." Do I get a prize?!?

The tiny text that some posters tend to use as asides (example here in miss lynsters comment) is truly hard to read in anything longer than a sentence, particularly for those of us born to the mole people. This seems to be the best place as any other to ask that people consider that [small] font is rather difficult to read in chunks! ( I realize that yes, the actual answer is to Ctrl-+ on FireFox read it and reverse, but then everything else goes huge. )

57-Chevy-with-a-double-headlight-kit-Filter. Why, when one hovers a link in a post, does the text in the status bar now read 'short cut to x' ? This actually makes it harder to tell to what the link is. Short cut to 53601 tells one nothing. Why does it now have be a detective novel to tell where the link leads ? This is counter-intuitive--why make it more work to tell what the link is ? This is not user friendly.

Please bring back to the status bar the address one would read in the address bar and forget this 'short cut to' crap. Here's a concept: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I can't get my posts to switch font modes in a single area of the text, it's all or nothing. I have a mac with OS 10.4 and use safari.

Mouseover Madness, Or, The Terrible Title.

I applaud the use of the title attribute, but here the text is so long there isn't time to read it before the browser hides it again.

Could we make the Post a Link page's description field be a bit bigger? On my most recent FPP post, I found that I was using a lot of markup (really the first time I had done markup this extensive for a FPP) and having trouble making code changes/editing content because the textbox just seems a bit constricting. Also, this could be helpful for Metatalk as well.

Trackback is almost illiegible in the plain text theme (black text on dark blue).

There is a minor bug with the text stylesheet. The a:hover in the head class is not declared, causing the text to disappear into the white background when moused over.

In Windows XP version 2002, using either Mozilla 1.1 or IE6, renders Metafilter with really big letters that make reading the site difficult. Anyone got any solutions?

Is anyone else seeing problems with links on some text ads being a bit too long to fit the box? Screenshot is from MSIE 5.1.3 on Mac OS X.

In the preview view of the post I just made, it said "[will be posted in metafilter >> feature requests]." Shouldn't that say MetaTalk, not Metafilter?

I read MeFi from two different computers (one at home, one at work); I changed my MeFi text preferences on my machine at work and they applied without problem. The prefs don't take on my home machine, though, even after I went to the bother of going back into the prefs on my home machine and resetting them again to be exactly the same as my work machine.

Yes, I have the same fonts on both machines, as well as the same browser (IE 5.5 SP1).

Any clues?

This has to be an FAQ, but I couldn't find it anywhere:

Can the stylesheet please be changed to not hard-code the point sizes for text? I really would like to make the text smaller, and IE 5.5 won't ignore those absolute sizes. I hear Opera will, but I'm not ready to switch browsers.
