Is this a bad time to talk about puppets? November 16, 2005 11:12 AM Subscribe
Etiquette Question. Maybe a bad time to post this? [MI]
I never finished it, thinking it might be wise to ask before making it an FPP.

Any time is a bad time to post something with three links, two of which are identical.

Speaking for myself, as only I can, it wouldn't trouble me. It's not like you're posting, say, about the crappy construction of the WTC on September 12, 2001 or anything.

That said, I'd love to see a really well-crafted post about puppets sometime.

The traditions and history of puppetry are quite rich, often amusing. there are, quite unsurprisingly, those who truly hate the adorable little things.
That's better!

Why is it a bad time to post it? Is it like a puppet day of mourning or something?

Well, when you get around to it, stick some Being John Malkovich in there for us plebeians.

IronLizard, the link goes to nowhere. Why would posting something about puppets be bad? Or insensitive?

It was inspired by some rather odd things. Nevermind.

This conversation is blowing my mind...it's like a staging area for Metafilter...since I saw the puppet post on the blue well before reading this...
Should we run all posts through MeTa prior to posting them to the blue?
foreplay.metafilter.com
I don't get it.

Hellllls no. I think newbs will find that starting Grey threads for any reason is almost as dangerous as starting a bad Blue thread. As I've said before - email someone on the site and ask for their input. Anyone you like and respect on MeFi will probably be cool enough to help you out. I am happy to help if you want my opinion on a potential post.
