Calling all Cards!
Having just mailed my cards for Project G.I.V.E. M.E. (that is, Great Internet Valentine Exchange, Metafilter Edition), and having had at least as much fun as I did with the winter holiday cards, I'm wondering if there's enough momentum and interest for another project. [more inside]
Lucy is such a asshole
It was a little too inside jokey for a FPP so I'm putting this here..What a asshole
You know that Flickr thing? Don't do that.

sensory deprivation
This question is kind of worrisome. If it's not a stunt post and the poster has not been severely misinformed, they might be walking in a situation which is genuinely dangerous to their mental health. [more inside]

WTF?
Once someone asked a question that was inappropriate for some reason (chat filter?) and then everyone freaked out and started posting weird stuff. This was maybe a year ago. It never happened again, that I saw. It was sort of funny. But I don't know why/how/what happened. [more inside]

Seriously, though. What was this all about?
Dance Around The World
I am so sorry that Baud got Dance Around The World stuck in his head.
Those frickin 80's tunes will get you sometimes.
Has this happened in other threads?
What, exactly, is this? It's a comment posted right before the closing that really doesn't have anything to do with the thread. (I was just looking back at my own post today and found it.) The user seems to wanted to have posted something about the thread but didn't have enough time (maybe?) but instead just posted 5 random links, two of them to Mansferd Mann's Band, two now dead YouTube links, and some crazy Scobby Doo thing. Not that I have a problem with any of it, but it just seems... weird.

I'm just admiring the sidebar blog for the question it currently asks, and answers.

Every one of them was awesome
Hey facetious, I have a question, and there's no email address in your profile: Why did you go into a 10-month old thread on Sunday night and mark 267 consecutive comments as "Favorite"?
Metafilter's wish is the world's command.
Is this a bad time to talk about puppets?
Etiquette Question. Maybe a bad time to post this? [MI]
What the hell?
What's this about?
Hmm. This is odd. Very odd indeed.

And it can't be good for the server, what with all the inline images. Oh well, whatever. All I know is that I hereby predict that, some time a week or two from now, MeTa thread #10430 will be very long.

Another boring post.
Baseball fans sure get worked up easily
We complain a lot about bad thread, but THIS is EGREGIOUS and UNFORGIVABLE and MORALLY REPREHENSIBLE.
Am I the only one shaking my head at this?
So there's that Hello Kitty vibrator ad by nyxxxx, and now there's an ad saying he ripped Dean King off. I'd post the link to the page that the ad links to, but it apparently sends an email to nyxxxx every single time the page is reloaded. Am I the only one shaking my head at this? [more inside]

What the dogmuffins is up with this?
What the dogmuffins is up with this? I think that searching for the phrase "fuckwit" will prove that I've never used it. Is there someway to delete comments like this, which serve no purpose except to be nasty?
Someone set us up the bomb
Can a chronological # be assigned to each comment(s) in each thread, so, saying or not saying, is more visible. I realize not all or the full comments are being read, or more etiquettely put, not everyone has the time. Then again it may make it that much easier for that, then were back to more etiquette??
Plus it may cut down for memory when were thinking of this. As your taking up space by copy & paste, one's words. I'm sure this will not stop it.

9-11 abbreviations disrespectful
There is something disquieting and deeply disrespectful about the way some well-intentioned but impatient members have chosen to abbreviate the September 11 massacres. After 0.81 there has just appeared a 911 designation. Is a geeky insider-code-thing acceptable in these circumstances?
Is it even understandable to non-savvy members? To non-Americans, for instance "911" is a Porsche or an emergency phone number or the 9th of November.
Also there seems to be something inconsiderate about saying "WTC" when so many others died in Washington and Pennsylvania.
I am at a loss for suggestions. It would be too jinxy to say History will probably record the attacks as the September Attacks(there already is a "Black September"...) - because September is not yet ended.
Any ideas, meanwhile?
I often need to refer to these events here at MeFi and would welcome a short, but respectul abbreviation.
Thank you.

I say that tonight, to those who flame we respond as though we're stoned no? Now wouldn't that be irritating?
BTW. I don't expect anyone to actually do it nor post on this thread.
