Navigational links that go back/forward one day on the "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago." pages would be fun!

And maybe add a 6 years ago link to the sidebar?

I think Matt's said in the past that MetaFilter six years ago isn't something he wants to draw attention to.

The difference if it were posted today? There would be fifty comments, some saying "Sorta funny" or the equivalent, some busting his chops for a single-link post to a web comic, some discussing the politics of K-Mart. We've come a long way, baby!

I did look further back, but it seemed that by this point 6 years ago, Metafilter had enough traffic and users that it was starting to become interesting. I liked the post about MTV's new all flash site. Anyway, I just tossed that in as an after-thought.
