Pony Up: In the new tabbed feature (which I love), "Popular Favorites" tallies popularity by those who favorited the post. Perhaps a more valid index of popularity (read: worthwhile, not-to-be-missed nuggets) would be to include the number of favorites to both the post and assorted comments within?

Naw, I think favorites on the post does it. MeFi is about the links, the discussion is secondary.

The problem with that idea is that it would allow someone to game the system by voting for every comment, thus adding lots of votes to the overall score. The current way prevents any person from adding more than one point to the score.

Tangential re-request: recent comments functionality for Music would be awesome.

For me, MeFi is at least 50% about the discussion. Without comments this place would be rather lifeless (think memepool). The gaming of the system point is a valid one, though... consider my pony rescinded.

How 'bout a list of most favorited ever? So we could keep track of mefi greatest hits (both comments AND posts)?

Tangential note: you all know what I meant by "game the system", but it's interesting that no dictionary I have consulted includes that meaning for the word "game" when used as a transitive verb. Isn't that interesting?

Here's how I define "game the system": To abuse a system without cheating so as to get an advantageous result that wasn't deserved.

Early on with regard to the question of 'most favorited' (regardless of whether it's posts or comments), I suggested that it be possible to look at the measure over various timeframes : most faved this week, this month, this year, and ever.

This I have now repeated.

Holy shit! I clicked the + and it was insta-favorited! When did that happen? Didn't it used to redirect to another page? Brilliant!

Can we have, like, a pony moratorium for a couple of months, or something? It makes me feel like an ass on behalf of the community. Not that this was necessarily a good or a bad idea, but there have been a ton of changes recently, and maybe we should just voluntarily let things chill for a while.

On a related note: I love the new tabs also, but could I just point out that the 'Answered' tab on AskMe might be better if it listed the questions tagged with 'resolved' (or both) instead of questions with a 'best answer'? Not all answered questions have a marked best answer and, vice versa, not all answered questions are marked with resolved.

I'm with blacklite on the pony whining moratorium, but damn I would love a most-favorited-ever list.
