I just wanted to say thanks to Matt for putting that extra-special touch on my post about Comic Sans. I have made a very few good posts and a number of bad ones, but this has completely made my MetaFilter day, no, wait - my MetaFilter year.
I managed to mangle getting the link in there - posting to MetaTalk is hard.

It took a while for me to figure out what this is about, because I've got Comic Sans set as my default typeface on Metafilter.

Hey, yeah, I saw you too, but it was one of those awkward streetcar moments where you don't make eye contact and you wonder whether you should say hi but it's the streetcar and not a bar, so you just sit there and do nothing. I was also tired. Oh, and yesterday I was coming back from the Wheat Sheaf drunk as a skunk. So not acknowledging me was no great loss.

There are qualifications on that sign! "Reportable injury" and all the scribbling around the 4-digit (!) safe days. For all we know they say things like, "'Cept for Stu whose bleeding out was natural" and "Not counting the thing with the tractor."

That font switch made me so happy. For me, it showed the difference between a site run by a couple folks who love (OK, maybe not always love, but you know what I mean) what they do, and a big corporate entity that wouldn't be able to throw in a joke like that, or if they did, would have sent out a stupid press release, probably in Sand or some equally-bad font, announcing their wacky stunt. This reminded me that metafilter is run by a real guy (with a few awesome others) and not a big, ugly machine. Well, I guess there are some big machines involved too, but I don't really know much about the tech side.
