Can we post articles on Metatalk as well as Metafilter? December 11, 2001 6:06 AM Subscribe
What is view on posting external articles of interest in metatalk much like metafilter ? Thanks. (PS Wash Post and NY Times articles are posted in comments, as I am somehow unable to link from here, maybe just as well until I get the response.)
there are metatalk categories for 'general weblog related' and 'metafilter related' - maybe have a dig though a few months worth of those to get an idea of whats considered relevant?
i did find the 2 articles you linked interesting, but probably wouldn't of posted them myself...

I found that first post really interesting. With a bit of research and a related link or two, it might have made a good FPP for MeFi. I suppose NYT links might be contentious because of the registration thing.
Not sure about the second one. Not sure whether either makes a MeTa post, but then I'm no expert.

Put together Voyageman's first link and walrus's two links and you have a good FPP.
Couldn't this be done more often? I mean testing links here and, if they're stimulating, having others chip in with suggestions? I'd love to see a FPP with acknowledgements to others' contributions. I would also love to see actual collaborations.
In fact, why can't this very thread be kept open as a testing ground? Good work, fellas! (It's fascinating to watch things take shape, too - for junkies, at least).
The only problem would be members using this thread to make preemptive comments that would more usefully be posted to the eventual MeFi thread.

Miguel- here's and idea to evolve el experimento further in the true spirit of collaboration - would you take posts 1, 2, 3, and create a brand new and compelling FPP ? Cant wait to see what comes out. Reminds me of playing that game of telephone as a kid.

Voyageman - I'd love to take the challenge, but I know nothing about computer music. The guy who could really make it zing would be Andrew Cooke. He knows his stuff. As this FPP shows.
Now that would be collaboration. With a little bit of luck we could have it posted in time for Spring!
