Ravelry? September 26, 2007 6:59 AM   Subscribe

Wee pony: can we get Ravelry added to our list of social apps in the profile?

Also, if anyone's already on there and wants to add me, my username is elizawrites.

Is there a point to adding things that are still in closed beta?

Sure. You can still get invited to the beta by means of a wait list. There's already a MetaStitcher group with 31 members.

smackfu, it's only semi-closed. They're inviting hundreds of people a day, and people can still sign up for the invite list. My understanding is that they have the technology to invite the whole list (i.e. 18,000 new users wouldn't crash their new servers) but not the people-power. It's still only a husband and wife. They're getting volunteer assistance from members with some things, but the majority of stuff is still things that only one of them can do. Plus, as padraigin says, there's already over 30 of us on there.

cowbellemoo, the invitations are moving faster now. My friend moved up 3000 places in a week. If you want to prep for when you're on, take pictures of your stash and projects, and make lists of your needles and stash, or at least make sure you have your stash all together for easy reference. If you're doing Stitches East, there's going to be some sort of Ravelry meetup. It might just be meeting up at the food court at lunch; we haven't worked out the details yet.

My wife just got her invite last night. I have to say that while the yarn arts don't really hold my attention, the site is just really cool. It's exactly the social site I'd want if I were getting my crochet on.

thanks, booksherpa. I saw their blog say they were doing ~500 a day, which would get me in roughly a month from now. I only have one project so far, but it does happen to be the only X8 Superscarf in existence. It's made of baby alpaca and grants +4 to all survival checks.

But I have gotten holiday orders already. :D

When I read that TPS, I think of that waiting room scene in Beetlejuice.

I got mine two days ago--I'm in as fuzzbean.

I was all confused for a minute, thinking this was a group for people like me. Then I realized it was about knitting.

If anyone wants to share my stash, and hear my half-baked project ideas, I am standing by in Bishkek.

Just as a note, people keep linking to the old MeFi wiki page for the social networking "to do" list - I've now migrated that old page to the new wiki.

Man, I'd be afraid of getting shot holding black tar in Turkmenistan if I shared your stash, Meatbomb.

But not too afraid.

Meatbomb's stash + my stash = a big, misshapen, unwearable yarn thing with Dorito dust all over it.

Oh, man. This is just like that time when I forgot my ticket to the Air concert and couldn't get in the door. I want my Sexy Boy.

I'm in, as of the other day (alias Carrabuda). I have yet to plumb the depths/scale the heights of its full awesomeness, but come the weekend, hoo boy.

I read that as "getting my crotch done", for fuck's sake.

I got my invitation yesterday! I'd almost forgotten that I out my name in. Now, if I only had the free time to knit, I'd be set.
