Recent Activity: My Favourite? October 24, 2007 10:55 AM   Subscribe

Could the favorites counts and [+/-] links be added to the "posted by" lines on Recent Activity, please?

RA is my MeFi bookmark now, and I use it more than any other page on the site. It'd be great to be able to add favourites from it.

(Posting this bit here rather than as More Inside so it shows up on my RA.)

I've thought this very thing myself. Often I swerve to favorite something reflexively in RA and am temporarily bamboozled by the lack of an icon. Gets me every time.

Honestly, that page should be as close to a normal thread as possible. Every difference just equals something that will be out of date.

Me also too wanna ride this pony.

Man, I feel like this came up recently, but I'll be damned if I can find the thread, and I can't remember Matt's take on it either.

Me too!

You're probably thinking of when I was bitching about OTHER stuff on the RA page, cortex.

And more people came around that thread to agree or offer other ideas, but the mods just sort of left the building...

Yeah, I brought it up. Matt said he thought it would be easy enough and it'll go on the to do list.

Ta-dow, bitches!

I think you should have to go to the thread and read the comment in context before adding it as favorite. I would support being able to remove faves from RA.

Ta-dow, bitches!

Well, there you go. Commence quiverin' in anticipation.

And more people came around that thread to agree or offer other ideas, but the mods just sort of left the building...

Heh. That actually turned into a sprawling admin conversation in email, but I'm not sure we ever resolved anything at the time.

That's the trouble with this place - too much admin sprawling.

*Commences quiverin'*

it'll go on the to do list.

I await hard evidence of this mythical 'list'.

I assure you, it's very real. Two-ply, five hundred sheets, squeezing strictly prohibited.

THAT COMMENT IS WHY I WANT FAVORITES ON THE RECENT ACTIVITY PAGE!

stavrosthewonderchicken: "I await hard evidence of this mythical 'list'."

If you believe Matt's Tadalist, Jobs, "announcefilter" (Projects, maybe?), tagging, and category RSS feeds still need to be done. In fact, the Recent Activity page is still undone according to that!

The RSS for that tadalist says he hasn't touched it since 28 May 2005. Sigh.

too much admin sprawling.

Why am I suddenly picturing Matt, Jessamyn, cortex and pb suffering the drunken after-effects of a long night of binge alcohol consumption, draped around a dimly lit room, groaning at the spinning of the world?

Oof. Inside voice, quin. Inside voice.

You mean that's not what usually goes on at MeFi Central Command?
posted by Kirth Gerson at 4:19 PM on October 24, 2007

I am suspect of this supposed to-do list.

I WANT TO BELIEVE

My very small and obscure joke upthread was, of course, a reference to an audio interview Matt did somewhere in the last year or two that I vaguely recall in which he basically copped to just writing stuff on post-it notes and then forgetting about most of them until reminded....

Don't forget my two cents from the "Ta-dow, bitches!" thread linked above. (It got me a favorite!)

ok, Recent Activity now includes favoriting and best answer checkmarks.

God, that is so like you.

effin-a! thank you! I also notice that the time length has extended to three weeks, that's kinda cool too.

There aren't any best answers in my Recent Activity, should I file a bug report?
