I'd much like a diminutive horse, please. An option in "Recent Activity" to view "all activity," that combines "my posts" and "my comments" on one handy page.

It's been requested before but I don't know if it's on Matt's radar. It would add functionality for me because I sometimes don't click on the "my posts" tab for weeks because I usually comment in my own posts but then end up missing things like answers to ask.me questions that are offered months after I asked it.

diminutive horse = pony, right? I get it! Lol.

No offense Kattullus, but I'm going to change the subject now...

What a fucking bitchy whiny day on meta! Good lord I'm drunk and PMS-y rignt now and just cracking up at the 6 (six, people!) metatalk posts in the last two days and I'm so glad to see that everyone is right where I am.

Yay universe!

Another eensy horsey: I'd like a bottom-of-the-page link to "Recent Activity".

Cuz I'm lazy. And scrolling all the way back up to the top of the page to click that link gives me the vapors.

While we're consolidating here, my pony is links to users' answers marked as "best" in profiles, right under posts marked as "favorites."

I'd like "more activity" too - I've been wanting to join a choir, maybe brush up on my Hindi, and learn how to play pétanque. But who has the time - !

That's why I'd like the moderators to do these activities for me, and prepare weekly reports on their results so that I can spend more time in the pub passing off their exploits as my own.

Remember: I paid $5 to join this site, mathowie - FIVE FUCKING BIG ONES. And I think I deserve a little something back, huh? So grab your boules, big guy: I've got 50 euro riding on you tearing Francois and Michel one new asshole each at the boulodrome tonight.

My secret: I pretty never don't have a Recent Activity tab open. I just refresh that fucker all day long and kick open links in new tabs as necessary.

Can we get a pool? Can we can we can we? Richie Pellsin got a pool and now everyone hangs out with Richie Pellsin. Can we get a pool? Pleeeeeeeeease?

I want an API so I can make mefi mashups. Some sort of googly hot or not ajaxy dynamically filtered stream of creatively common unconscious semantic d-web of user generated discontent gzipped and SMSed right into my amygdala so I can laugh disconcertingly while riding the bus.

Sorry, K, that's a feature that would improve the core experience. New development's all out at the PM and DateMe level.

I'm still all about having a page that only shows new posts made across all three since you last loaded.

By the way, a "diminutive horse" isn't a pony. There are some ponies that are bigger than some horses. It's a different kind of creature.

Seconded. What Kattullus said happens to me a lot as well.

I'm an Icelander. We're sensitive about the whole pony/horse nomenclature.

Yeah, K, let's really get clever here with our snotty pony requests. Feel free to use this pony derivative anytime: "A small (31tr) cylinder with its own regulator that is carried as a redundant AAS. Port. (LP or HP); an off-take from the 1st Stage of a regulator."

I've got more, too, yo. Hit me on the PM.

I've got your PONY request right here.

So Vikings don't like figurative ponies?

What about when you are sleeping? Is that when you're a...oh, forget it.

cortex: "It's a metaphorical diminutive horse, koeselitz."

Maybe right now. But we need to work this out before I fall asleep. I don't want Ralph Wiggum riding off on my Icelandic Horse just because I got stuck with some damned pony.

katullus: "I'm an Icelander. We're sensitive about the whole pony/horse nomenclature."

Wow, that wikipedia article is uncharacteristically good reading:

"Almost all Icelandics tend to be very calm and easy going on the ground, but most will be surprisingly forward when ridden. Icelanders call this spirit “willingness.” And a willing horse, by Icelandic standards, is a forward horse indeed."

And here I was wondering why all the Icelandic horses were always asking for my number and shooting me sidelong glances.

Not just "All Activity" but -- "All activity on a single page".

I've got a scroll bar, and I know how to use it!

Another eensy horsey: I'd like a bottom-of-the-page link to "Recent Activity".

Something another user helpfully pointed out to me when I complained about this, is that "my comments" at the bottom is essentially "recent activity". Which I had known, once upon a time, but there's something about the phrase "My X" that fills me with disdain. I blame MySpace and My Chemical Romance and MySimon.

Yeah, people talked about that in the MeTa thread when I asked for this :) It's not the same as RSS, because RSS backs up with things I've seen on the site and I end up just hitting "read all". If I wanted that, I could just look at the front page.

I only want to see anything new since I last reloaded the site, which I do much more often than I check RSS. There's no way to keep my read-in-reader and read-on-site in sync, if that makes a degree of sense.

Oh hey... bug report:

lodurr commented in my Sigur Rós post 2 hours ago. This shows up in "my posts" but not "my comments." I commented quite a bit in that post myself. What's going on?
posted by Kattullus at 12:16 PM on October 29, 2007

It you haven't commented in the post in the last 14 (I think) days, it won't show up for you in My Comments. Done as such to reduce server load in generating the page, since it has to check every post, not just those you've made, for commenting activity by you.

My Posts, because it's only checking your specific posts, is a lot less intensive of a search.
