Remember the Legend of Koizumi? Well, good news - it's going to be made into an anime.
There's a short article on the subject here.
Also, the second chapter of the manga has finally been scanlated.
I realize this may only be of interest to a handful of you, but the original thread is closed. And even if you're not into manga, I strongly recommend reading this. It's over-the-top satire of both politics and manga "epic battles". In case you missed it the first time around:

Junichiro Koizumi. Prime Minister of Japan, or God of Mahjong incarnate? Watch him clash with other world titans such as George W. Bush, Kim Jong Il, and Vladimir Putin in the one force that matters in the political world: mahjong.
languagehat: we've got to keep that damn cortex from completely dominating the front page.
I was kinda hoping that somebody would make a crazy callout but it would get swept off the front page by the cortex-flood before it attracted any attention.

Heh. I was just about to ask if cortex was in it, and if not, why this was here. But then I realized that was neither funny nor original, so I didn't. But then I did this, which is neither funny, nor original, nor brief. So fuck me. I'm such an asshole.

There's also a Megaupload and DDL link for the first chapter on that same page. For the second chapter I intentionally linked to the "read online" version.

So would it be fair to put this in the same genre as, say, Afghanis-tan or Hetalia Axis Powers? And if so, what would that genre be called?

Oh dang, the old thread's closed and this is sort of weak for its own follow-up on the blue so hey! how about MetaTalk? It's MetaFilter-related, after all!

I once wrote a song about Bush and Koizumi visiting Graceland. It was called Bush and Koizumi Visit Graceland.
