Timezone offset feature fix request in profile customization
I'm in GMT +9:30 , can there be a +16.30 offset on the server time? (in the website settings Or conversely, switch the time selection to be standard GMT offset instead of server offset, including all the vagaries of Daylight Saving?

One way to do it is to select a time zone, and then have a checkbox for DST.
This still doesn't work perfectly, since I don't think people really know whether they are currently in DST.

Globally DST rules are not only a nightmare they change every year; the system would require constant tweaking.

Right, you would still need to manually check/uncheck the DST box twice a year. But you could have the timezone list have proper timezones, like EST, rather than the current +3 hours (relative to PST).

(Although really that is more work than what we have now, which doesn't require any manual updates for the majority who are US users. Except Arizona and Hawaii.)

We don't have plans to support automatic timezones/daylight savings time right now. Last time this came up I described some of the reasons why here.
