Help finding a MeFi SLYT FPP July 13, 2010 2:48 AM Subscribe
Well, I give up. I've been trying to find a MeFi post about a super-violent testosterone soaked movie trailer- was it a real movie, even? I don't recall- for the last few weeks, but I'm coming up empty. Surely someone remembers the FPP?
My computer is old, reeeeeally old, and until just recently I haven't been able to watch anything with a frame rate greater than 3 per second. I'm catching up on memes now. The slyt I'm thinking of had sort of a 70's look, w/ one mullety guy fighting all comers. The FPP was worded oddly, IIRC, and my search-fu is failing me. Anyone know what I'm typing about?

I know what you're talking about it was a real movie. It was posted here, maybe in a comment? I can't find it, just wanted to confirm you weren't hallucinating (about this anyways).

Could it have been this one? It links to Everything is Terrible's post on the b-movie "Deadly Prey".

By the way, I see that the trailer of Machete was pulled from youtube by 20th Fox. How does this even make sense? Do trailers have some raison d' etre other than publicity for a film that I don't know of and/or can be monetised? Genuinely curious.
P.S. I'm so watching Machete when it comes out.

These are so awesome!
You might also want to check out Concrete TV, which I grew up with in NYC. NEVER HARD ENOUGH.

This?
Sample comment: "That was pretty weak until he slapped that guy six times with a severed arm and then cried while he scalped him. THEN I KNEW IT WAS ON."

The trailer was actually fake, and not really representative of the movie. Rodriguez mashed together bits from the fake trailer from grindhouse and the actual movie to make a commentary on the new Arizona law. It was never intended to be a real trailer for the movie, and I don't think he expected it to get the amount of attention it did.

Super-violent testosterone soaked movie trailer? It must be The Expendables. I don't see a post though.

He'd better go reshoot that thing then and deliver on the goods as promised.
Here's the real trailer. I have no worries about this being good.
I mean, it seems pretty clear that if you were to cut this movie open, it would bleed pure awesome.

micketymoc!!! And vapidave!1! At last, I'll get to see a man use the severed arm of his foe to beat down that very foe. My day has been made, thank you both.

Is it the Rambo trailer where he turns a guy into hamburger with an anti-aircraft gun?

It was a .50 machine gun, but yeah.
Lets just split the difference and call it . . . Hamburger Helper.

Oh crap! I totally missed the Deadly Prey trailer post! I was in another, more recent David Prior film (Zombie Wars), and it was a blast—better than Deadly Prey in every way. Less misogyny, better effects, "better" dialogue and "better" plot.

Well, not a trailer, exactly, and the violence is frozen. But pretty awesome nonetheless. Carousel.

Ah ha ha, from Deadly Prey's YT page: "The special effects budget was so low that they had to actually shoot people. "

I'd still see that version of the movie.

Oh, now that we found the awesome movie trailer biddeford was looking for, I have a request.
In a comment in some Lady Gaga thread (I think we have those on Metafilter), someone linked to a page that endlessly repeated the "Ga Ga Ooh La La" opening of Bad Romance. Anyone know where that thing is? I haven't had any luck searching Metafilter or the wider world web.
