Your media of 2022

What did you play this year? What did you watch? What did you read? None of it has to be the greatest ever, or even anything that came out in 2022, I'd just like to hear about what you spent time with and what it meant to you.

Metatalktail Hour: Now a Major Motion Picture!

Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, blnkfrnk would like to know "what book people would choose to adapt to a movie. If it has already been adapted, what would you do differently? Casting choices, rewrites, choice of book, type and style of movie, all are open to debate." [more inside]

Metatalktail Hour: Buy the Movie Rights!

Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! Tonight, wenestvedt wants to know what book you'd like to see made into a movie (/prestige TV, we live in a golden age), and why. And you can also include dream casting if you have it!

Is this a problem with FanFare?

Perhaps this is confirmation bias, but it seems to me that many FanFare threads have descended into “this show or movie is bad, and you are a bad person for watching it.” This, despite that fact that the people making these statements are clearly (hate?) watching the show or film. [more inside]

"The Big Lebowskemoji" from the mind of mathowie

I got a kick out of this and thought it deserved a MetaTalk post: The Big Lebowskemoji, from MetaFilter's own mathowie.

It's coming right out of the screen at me

This thread has just become awesome, not just because of the insight of the commenters, but the depth of its characters. See what I did there? Thanks, Mefi.

Help finding a MeFi SLYT FPP

Well, I give up. I've been trying to find a MeFi post about a super-violent testosterone soaked movie trailer- was it a real movie, even? I don't recall- for the last few weeks, but I'm coming up empty. Surely someone remembers the FPP? [more inside]

Moxie Cinema 2.0

Moxie Cinema 2.0 is box office boffo! MeFite Bjork24 and wife hand-built (with AskMe help) an independent theater with kitschy appeal that won Springfield, MO's Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2007 and last week moved to its new, hand-built 2-screen home. [more inside]

Anyone interested in a fantasy movie league? It's like fantasy foot/basket/baseball but not. It's with movies. [more inside]

What was that movie post?

I'm trying to find a post on the blue about a low-budget indie movie about the West Coast of the US after some sort of apocalypse. Various tag searches have turned up nada, I think it was last summer. It had quite a spooky documentary style trailer.

Moxie loves Metafilter

In light of all The Moxie shout-outs, which I appreciate immensely, I'm instating a "Moxie loves MetaFilter" discount at the theater. All MeFites who stop by will receive a bag of our famous popcorn as long as my wife, who doesn't understand why I'm always on "that blue website," isn't around! Thanks again for the support!

journalism, credibility, and marketing meet and go kaboom

Collaboratively funded movie production

(not sure this should go in AskMe. It's a bit chatty, so please pardon me if I got the wrong forum.)

Since I found the Sci-Fi thread so compelling I had a thought. Would you serious fans pony up, say, five bucks a piece, to help get a movie made if a studio was willing to match funds? And if it didn't get done, then you'd get your money back? Maybe done through an escrow account? I know that for the right production I'd pony up a lot more than that. Just wondering if you guys would.

Hotlinking to movie files

Hotlinking... In the Ryan thread, I listed the direct links to the movie files in response to a request. Afterwards, I wasn't sure if this was proper. I flagged my own post, and searched Metatalk, and didn't find anything for hotlinking.

Nationwide movie meetup - Farenheit 9/11

Whats say we make a list of the members who are going to watch Farenheit 9/11, and see if we can meet each other at the movie theater? Weve got a little time left, it may be cool to do.

a movie review on MeFi?

Even if you are a not a real mefi "purist" (and I am an admitted newsfilter violator) is this site really for posting a movie review?
