Could there be a Project Help sub-sub-site? I envision something akin to Music Talk where folks can post their Kickstarter campaigns, requests for collaboration, brainstorm sessions, etc.

Not that I have a project of my own in mind, but I think this could be a good thing.

To be honest, I'm not really interested in a kickstarter stream. I've seen the Projects queue go from one kickstarter project a month to several a week, which I don't approve any longer, since they're not really about completed projects but about early stage ones still in progress. Throwing together a discussion forum for brainstorming ideas is a bit too loose of a directive IMO for a well-functioning subsite for MetaFilter. It's just a bit too niche and loosey-goosey.

When it comes to a project you're working on, the options are pretty much AskMe, Projects, and Jobs. If it doesn't fit in there, it doesn't fit on the site.

Its all about links to cool stuff on the internet, most early stage projects arn't cool yet.

ooh, ooh, I've got an idea, let's call it 'metachat'

To be fair, that's not really what metachat is, koeselitz.

It's really more just a place for weird sorta-metafliter-related (but not really, anymore, except that a majority of folks there either have or used to have metafilter accounts) , extremely cliquish conversations about kitties and personal issues.

What about having a distinction between Just Starting Projects and Established Already Projects? Music has a chat and songs distinction, so it's not totally unprecedented.

Of course, if you're not approving the kickstarters anyway that's a moot point.

Isn't this more or less what Music Talk is? Voice help requests, gear questions, challenges (which are basically idea threads), etc. I don't see why this is something that's appropriate for Music but Projects couldn't have something analogous.
