Does anybody have that comic fandango_matt made with the boy scouts and the anthropomorphic animals explaining metafilter? All the references/links to it lead to 404s and dead ends.

If we find it, could metafilter possibly host it somewhere? It's actually genuinely helpful in explaining metafilter to people who have never heard of it before. That is all.

I don't actually call people drama queens. I call them motherfuckers.

So, was that an original series or is it repurposed artwork?

It amuses the hell out of me. Someone should do an updated comic. You know, with the new moderator and people that are still on here.

It is presumably a repurposed Cub Scouts comic starring Baloo, Akela, and…whatever the Tiger's name was. Probably from Boy's Life or something. Presumably trying to teach kids the importance of turning off e computer and getting an adult when they see something that "confuses" them. Like, I guess, goatse.

I wonder if there have been more MeTa posts looking for this comic or asking for an explanation of the "."

Oh man, it's cub scouts? Haha. I actually remember all those "leader" names now. Jesus, what a weird thing to do to your children.

I think "stop the asshattery" is a sentiment we can all get behind.

It's like "a more perfect union" - it's never going to happen, but it's kind of endearing that we still try.

Oh man, I've been looking for this comment for like two years, but I could never figure out whether it was real or I had just dreamed it, because it's pretty much impossible to search for. Now I finally know. Thanks for making the thread, tehloki!

It now occurs to me that I probably could have just asked cortex if it was real or not.

How do you know you didn't just dream cortex?

One time I dreamed that I was at a meetup, except the meetup was like Team Fortress 2, like we were all running around trying to capture the intelligence and blowing each other up and what have you, and I was a spy, and cortex banned me because I kept backstabbing him and sapping his sentries. True story.

(also, I just found out that Jani Lane (lead singer of Warrant whose claim to fame was "Cherry Pie") has passed away at age 47. This has saddened me more that I thought it wouldd. RIP, Jani)

I used to be a student music coordinator and we put on a Warrant show. These guys were unloading equipment and came up to my friend that was "guarding" the door. So he helps move some crap. One of the guys asks, "What do you think of the band?" My friend says, "These guys? These guys suck." He then proceeds to mock the Cherry Pie song. It ended up being one of the band members. They made him be their guide and took him mini-golfing. They didn't want a fan boy fawning over them all day, so my friend was perfect. I think they also went to Perkins.

There really isn't much more to that story. This was 15 years ago. We didn't go to the concert.

Oh I totally had a Metafilter-related dream. I was in some new town (New England-y?) and there was some kind of meet-up going on with all the mods except it was in his shabby genteel house and everyone was playing with neon-colored kittens and I had to go out and find a specific kind of thread/string and got hopelessly lost what with all the houses looking alike and the fog.

Pony request: in addition to the favorite button, a special "groan" button after all cortex's posts so I can properly register my response to his (clever, but still groanworthy) puns.

Also NYTimes, "heavy metal" lead singer? Um, okay.

From jonmc's link:

Mr. Lane was born John Kennedy Oswald on Feb. 1, 1964 in Akron, Ohio. (His parents named him after President John F. Kennedy, undeterred by the fact that they shared the last name of the suspect in the assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald.)
