Metafilter: WTF?
I've been amused by a gag I've seen a few posters use, where the poster sums up a comment thread by writing, "Metafilter: xxx" where xxx is a recurring phrase or strange phrase from the thread. I took my life in my hands and tried it in this comment and just sort of wondered if I did it right and/or where in the wiki I would find how to do it right. My wiki-search-fu was not such that I could find out. Can somebody please link/splain?

that was a clever use of the "metafilter: ___" trope. i don't believe there is anything to explain, though, and no right way.

It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is.

You could argue that the question of what the meaning of the word "is" is is (see what I did there?) a classic and persistent philosophical problem, not one that can be solved with a dictionary, but rather one that goes to the very heart of ontology and/or epistemology.

Loong long long time ago, the header on the green used to say, "Metafilter: We're all in this together".
And occasionally it would get changed to something else, as a joke. I think it's been years since the last time, but it kind of stuck as a local meme. And that's what you're seeing.
