Aww shucks you guys... August 30, 2012 3:53 PM   Subscribe

Thank you so much for showing the love on the sidebar. Beyond deep appreciation, I would also like to offer this token of gratitude.

It means a lot to have the support of the community. Already, we've gotten our first pop-up outside the UK – The Vespiary Book Restoration & Bindery – Custom, handmade books and book repair in Missoula, Montana.

Reading their registration was one of the greatest moments in the last 11 weeks (we started this journey in early June). We've been doing a lot of outreach on the ground in London, and we're building quite solid momentum on the back of that. The Vespiary was the first completely organic sign-up, and it's exactly the type of business for whom we are building the platform.

That came from you guys, and it really does mean the world to myself and the team. Thank you again so much, both for the shout-out and all the clicks.

Speaking of the sidebar...

What on earth is that video, and is there a subtitled version anywhere? I am madly in love with those cats.

Speaking of the sidebar...

What? What about the sidebar?

That video seems sidebar-worthy to me, I mean. But I think maybe my sense of taste is broken from being immersed in internet for too long.

With this, it is truly us who have been given the better share of the deal.

Please don't tell me what that video means/is/does. I'm afraid knowing anything more would simply ruin it for me.

Best of the internet, indeed.

I call shenanigans - it seems like there's a sort of "cats at a traditional bathhouse" vibe, and you would NEVER get a cat willingly into a bath.

(not that i don't like the video nevertheless)

That's awesome! I've always wanted ¥1000 off one of those, whatever they are! Thanks nickrussel!

(@TheWhelk – thank you, but I think we can all agree it would be much better if David Bowie sang in Japanese and tossed around a bongo-playing cat)

YouTube said it best: "No description available."

OK, the correct comment would be: No description possible.

Wow, nickrussell, I have always appreciated your psychologically insightful answers on askme...but now I have a whole new appreciation for this...cat video. It is truly something else. Also, is it lazy to ask someone to link to the link in question on the sidebar? I have to watch this video again..

"1000 ¥ OFF"

Has "off" been assimilated into Japanese - as, say, "a la carte" has been assimilated into English?

Or is "OFF" a recognized graphic symbol for "discount"?

The Whelk: "kitty boom

For some reason this. Reminded me of this fun thing.

Yes, "Off" means "discount" or "reduced". Thus "calorie off" for diet soft drinks, "Book Off" for a discount bookshop and best of all, this discount/secondhand hardware/appliance/miscellaneous chain.

Babelfish says it is "The NYA Orchid dancing in the Vol TV unreleased full version."
Google is... unhelpful... as to this mysterious "NYA Orchid." Crimefighter? IT ninja? J. D. Salinger?

I read a wired article earlier today that indicates "nya" means "meow" in Japanese.

thats all I got.

Aha! There's a whole series of these under the YT account jalan movie and they seem to be promotions for a Japanese site called jalan.net, a travel and hotel booking service. Awww. One of many travel lessons.

NyaRan has been featured on the blue before (scroll down).

Hi Nick! I'm the owner of The Vespiary Book Restoration & Bindery. Thanks again for making such a groovy little app and even bigger ups for the squealarrific gift back to the MeFi community.
I'm honored to be your first American and will do my best to spread the good word out here. There's a cliche in Missoula that everyone has two or three jobs: your day job(s), and your side biz that you love. It'll be fun to get others involved with their floating world venues.
