Metachat and links. August 18, 2013 7:50 PM   Subscribe

In Metachat, links posted in chat open in the same window, so clicking them closes your chat session. Can this be fixed to open in a new tab/window so we don't inadvertently disconnect ourselves?

You realize, don't you, that MetaChat is not part of MetaFilter?

He's talking about Chat for MetaFilter, pretty sure. I'm not sure how this is set up but it seems like something that is fixable.

Yes, sorry, I meant chat.metafilter.com.

pb will be the one who can actually address this, and he may not be around to answer for a while.

In the meantime, are you using the browser-based chat? There may be a way to force your browser to open links in a new window/tab -- for example, in Safari you can do this by holding down 'command' when you click the link.

Links in the web chat client are already set to open in a new window. What browser are you using? And can you let me know which OS you have? Maybe there's an issue with the specific browser you're using.

Go figure, it did it twice before but it now does open in a new tab. Thanks pb, close it up!
