Podcast Post Pony Petition August 1, 2014 7:47 AM   Subscribe

MetaTalk has a comment period of 30 days by default. In most MeTa contexts, this is good, and makes total sense. But for the podcast, this makes less sense—especially since people might be coming to listen to a podcast well after it has been recorded. Could the podcast pages be stripped of their commenting time limit? This would be more in line with MeFi Music and FanFare, which seem to be the closest analogues elsewhere on the site. Is that something other users would find to be welcome?

This request is totally inspired by the fact that I finally listened to the podcast from June and wanted to tell people about the time my sister and I won tickets to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "Coming Out of Their Shells" Tour, but the podcast comments are closed.

Hmm, yeah, along the lines of MeFi Music, this would make sense for us to extend. I don't think it would be used much (and abused even less often), but I sometimes listen to old podcasts on other networks and it would be fun to be able to participate, even if it's a year or two after it was released.

Can you do this on a thread by thread basis?

FINALLY will be able to comment on the epic cat pictures link (which still works btw) and was mentioned in a previous podcast.

Podcast your yays upon the waters, and they will come back a thousandfold.

Ten year old me is SO JEALOUS.

Modern me is SO MORTIFIED.

What's even better is that even though we had entered the contest, my parents had gone ahead and gotten tickets for the four of us, because my sister and I were so clearly more excited about this than just about anything ever.

So when we won four additional tickets, that meant we could each bring two friends! My parents brought three six year olds and three eight year olds to this thing. Now that I'm nearly the same age my parents were then, I am astonished and amazed at their child wrangling abilities.

Also, my memory of the whole thing is that it was AWESOME, and that Shredder made an entrance off the set which was made out of pipes. I had honestly forgotten that there was music involved at all.
