Just curious - I saw a post on the front page about an Enron auction this afternoon. I look a couple hours later and it's gone. Was it my imagination? What happened? and who makes decisions like these?
At least you can still see what was posted here.

Kevin: Next time try searching MetaTalk for the topic you're interested in before posting; it really helps keep constantly repeated questions from bumping deeper conversations off the MeTa front page. A simple search for "deleted posts" would have turned up plenty of material for you to peruse and learn the basics of how the site works.
I wonder: does this need to be clearly spelled out somewhere permanent for new folks? I'll admit I'm kind of surprised it's difficult to figure out, but apparently some newbies spend more time exploring the various nooks and crannies of MeFi than others.

Someone's got an axe to grind this afternoon, sheesh.
You're right, though.

Thanks for your responses - but I didn't post the original link. I was just curious about how and why an otherwise interesting link suddenly disappears from the front page. Do your homework before you jump down someone's throat, please. =)

I believe mediareport means before posting to metatalk. As in, before posting a question that may have been answered already try to do a search of the archives and see. The archives are long, many things can be found in them. Fantastic, Magical things.
Anyway, as you may have noticed, only the 5 most recent metatalk posts are displayed, so sometimes it's sad when good ones get bumped into oblivion before the conversation is really over.

Keep in mind, also, that some newbies--like myself--have been reading the site (both 'Filter and 'Talk) for about a year. It makes it a little easier to pick up on the nuances of the place.
Though I do admit to being somewhat baffled by the amount of people who don't seem to know that the Mathowie is responsible for deleting threads..

Yes, that's right. Search MetaTalk as well as MeFi before posting at either place, kevin123.

More often than not though, it's good when the sad ones get bumped.

Here's a plan, amigo - how about you do your homework before asking questions that you could easily find the answer to all on your own, without wasting our time? You know that guy who said "there's no such thing as a dumb question"? He was wrong.
Add smileys as necessary.

Of course, you would have to know beforehand that searching for the phrase 'deleted threads' would provide the answer to your question.
Then again, if you did know to search for 'deleted threads', then you probably already knew the answer to the question and you wouldn't have asked it.
