Two self links in one post. And they're kind of creepy, to boot. Not a particularly auspicious beginning for the 16K club.
I don't understand what the post is about anyway. Maybe it's been Google-translated from Aramaic?

I don't think Google can translate Aramaic (sic) to Retard.

the 16K club
Ugh. Don't start. We're all MeFiers here, we don't need anymore artificial division into "clubs".

signal: your powers of observation are unparalelled.
glueschk: I thought it was spelled "Arameic". Or is either of them perfectly cromulent?

DM: I've never seen it spelled with an "e", and Google asks me, "Did you mean: aramaic". It gives 278 hits for "arameic", vs. 136,000 for the one crash used.

I would like to reclaim "retard" as an insult, the way that Dan Savage tried to claim "faggot," only the opposite. Whereas Dan tried to de-insult "faggot" by embracing it, I'd like to re-insult "retard" by re-appropriating it -- keeping the word taboo basically means continuing to consider it as an "appropriate" (i.e., denotatively correct) term for the mentally handicapped. (Put another way, "retard" is only considered offensive because people continue to associate the term with the mentally handicapped.)
I propose "retard" be used as an insult directed at people who retard the flow of x in some way. This usage would cleave very closely to the dictionary definition of the verb "retard," commonly used by scientists and engineers. The obvious usage would be on our nation's roads and highways -- rubberneckers slowing to observe an accident (as opposed to slowing to allow those at the scene to function properly) would, collectively, be retards. Someone who drives slowly would not necessarily be a retard, unless he or she is in the left lane. Or the person who holds up a checkout line looking for change. I'm not a go-go-go kind of guy, looking to disparage those who don't move at lightning pace, but in day-to-day life, everyone is slowed down to an unwelcome, inconvenient degree by the actions of certain others. I submit to you that those others are retards.

gleuschk: from the front page of MeFi "The only issue? He wants to do it totally in Latin and Arameic without subtitles". I realize MeFi is not without it's typos, but it's not like Aramaic is a word I often write (read: never, until this point). I assumed, and made an ass out of me.
Next time, I'll try and avoid being funny when it comes to speling. ;)

Considering that the English word "Aramaic" is a transliteration of the general name of an ancient language that was based on both a different alphabet and set of phonemes than is English, any English spelling probably misses the mark by a mile. Therefore, no penalty points for Dark Messsiah.
