AutoMatt and the Template of God [[more inside]]
posted by seanyboy to Feature Requests at 12:22 AM (19 comments total)

AutoMatt. I would like a feature added to Metafilter where after about 20 comments a comment is added which states "This is Matt's site and he can do what he wants with it". I don't think it would be too difficult to add, and I think it would be really useful.

Template of God. Sometimes it's really hard to tell when Matt has made a comment, and it's therefore very difficult to pick up which comments I should be sychophantic towards. How about a checkbox in the preferences screen which, when ticked, will automatically format all Matts comments in Uppercase (Thus Giving the impression of THE VOICE OF GOD), and add next to the comment a little picture of a deity of our choice (Jesus / Buddah / Quonsar / etc). Doing this will enable those of us who wish to lick some arse the ability to do it in a quasi - religious way.

Ha ha.

No.

Now, can I request an instant smash with the banhammer for people who post faux-funny Metatalk threads that apparently have no point beyond attention-seeking?

Sorry, that was a bit harsh. Maybe not the banhammer, maybe just a little tweak to the peepee or something.

If they can master baiting,
Why can't they master abating?

If this place has an AutoMatt, how much is an egg salad sandwich and a slice of apple pie (and do the coin changers accept $20's)?

As for the Template of God,
(1), seanbaby, it's a good thing you didn't try the "Template of Doom"; you'd get such a C&D letter from Spielberg (I hear he's trying to CGI a younger Harrison Ford to do another Indy Jones movie...);
and (B), the correct formatting for The Voice of Matt/God is font-size: 150% and font-weight: 800 (text-decoration: none, we're not being pretentious here). Your CSS mileage may vary.

I think we should just leave it up to Matt, after all it is his site.

I don't think Matt needs a reminder, he can do it at 1 comment or the next or just put it in the title.

I would just like to say banhammer because I find it delightfully fun to say out loud.

Guilty as charged.

This is a terrible idea -- for one thing, I don't write in all-caps. For another, what business does Matt have doing impressions of Me?

The two word version: ban Migs.

God! Now that you're here, could you explain the whole problem-of-evil thing? It's been bothering a lot of people. Thanks.

On preview: Oooh, you're gonna get flamed now, DM.

Seriously though, cut out the toadying.. after so many years it's got to be getting annoying even to the beneficiary.

Jesus / Buddah / Quonsar

This Quonsar, is he/she/it related to quonsar?
