clavdivs: the picture was posted by Matt in this MeTa thread. It seems to be down now. As far as I can recall (not well) it was a photograph of Jeremy standing outside his unit in Iraq, holding a card saying "MetaFilter". Or something like it.

same here, I saw the photo. it looked a little spooky, like that iPod-all-around-the-world gallery site

looks like the server was hosed. Hopefully it wasn't due to anything he wrote there.
