MeFi Passwords July 31, 2004 4:34 PM   Subscribe

Perhaps it's right in front of my nose....

Where do we go to change our MeFi passwords? What do we do if we, heaven forbid, LOSE our password to MeFi? Do we get kicked out of the kingdom for being big dorkuses? Am I just missing it?

Um, I think you can ask Matt to change it if you forget it.

I wondered if the answer was "email Matt," but that seems like it would be a pain for Matt.

Hey, this kingdom was founded on a constituency of big dorkuses. You'd have to be, like, magna dorkus in extremis to actually get kicked out.

yeah i forget where but I swear matt said that if you lose your password or need anything, just email him.

The answer is obvious. Metafilter is all about inconveniencing Matt.

if you forgot your password, you can have it emailed to yourself on the login page after an error.

You try to make options context-sensitive, and what do users do? Ask you where they are in case they ever need them.

Someone's being a little context-sensitive, isn't one?

This is the right account for posting embarassing personal questions to Ask Metafilter, right? Just wanted to doublecheck before I head over there.

I can't believe I'm posting in metafilter!

Neither can I, my good man. Neither can I.

Oddly enough, the anonymous "embarrassing personal question" is actually pretty normal, while the really embarrassing stuff is being asked in the clear.
