what bush and kerry did in the vietnam years September 8, 2004 6:44 PM   Subscribe

i am so tired of reading about bush and kerry and what they did and didn't do during the vietnam years ... could we please just give it a break? ... this is nothing but monotonous drum beating ...

(no link ... there's plenty on the front page)

i just think our energies could be better spent on other issues, if we're going to talk about the election ... we've beaten this to death ... everything that's going to be said about it has been said ... and i don't think we're going to get much more info than we already have

it's time to move on to greener pastures, i think ... this isn't the "best of the web", it's not even "the best of the election"

I'm tired of you NOT SKIPPING OVER POSTS YOU DON'T LIKE! WHAT'S THAT?! IS THAT CRYING I SEE? WAAAAH! WAAAH!

You're completely right, Pyramid Termite. The blue is becoming more and more of a shithole every day. Will people stop? Nope. The front page is embarassing.

(Damn, was gonna say someone'll post the old "Just scroll down" bullshit response in a coupla minutes... on preview, thanks for being so predictable, Stan!)

stan ... what you don't see is the posts people would have made if they weren't spending their time arguing about this

your polite response to my rather rude statements are noted though

pyramid termite, when you see a post you don't like, avert your gaze from it. Because when you do, you will see another post, and that will get your attention.

Trust me on this.

Just keep thinking about how it will all be over in two months,
that's it, just two months,
then it will trouble you no more.

spacecadet ... just consider this an intervention ... i could avert my eyes from a guy who's drunk and putting a lampshade on his head at every party, too ...

We'll stop with the vietnam posts, if you'll stop with the ellipses. For the love of strunk!

MetaFilter was just as bad the last time US of A held presidential elections. Complaining about it really has not helped and my guess is that it will not help now either. Just grin and bear it I guess.

Ah. Those are here.

I suppose that it's possible that mojohand and Postroad would have found something else super interesting with their extra surfing time, but right now, people who are interested in election news are probably going to be surfing for election news.

But if it makes you feel better, I'll post something cool that's completely non-political....

"it's time to move on to greener pastures, i think"

YOU think. With no regard for those who enjoy ElectionFilter, YOU decide YOU should be the arbiter of good taste around here.

Who died and made YOU Matt? ;-P

Congratulations, pyramid termite. You have been successfully manipulated by the Republican strategists into precisely the mindset they wanted you in. I wonder what topic they can tire you out on, thereby getting you to ignore, next?
posted by rushmc at 3:53 PM on September 9, 2004

rushmc ... i'd made up my mind quite some time ago to vote for a third party candidate to protest the continued machinations of our corporate state ... which include getting the american people hung up on ancient history, personalities and various hot-headed irrelevancies

you were saying?

When Bush wins, the Front Page will be filled with post after post of how Bush stole the election and how the GOP played dirty tricks that fooled the great unwashed.

If Kerry wins, the Front Page will be filled with post after post of how Republican Congressmen and Senators stole elections and how the GOP played dirty tricks that fooled the great unwashed. After that, it will be how the GOP controlled House and Senate are holding up the Kerry Agenda.

So no, it will not be over in two months.

I hope an alien spaceship lands and kidnaps both Bush and Kerry, and the world joins together to save them, leading to the dawn of a new age of worldwide peace and cooperation. That'd be cool.

I hope a spaceship lands and Leela and Doctor Zoidberg get out and take the heads of Bush and Kerry back to the head museum. Then I hope Bender runs for president on the platform "Kill All Humans!". That'd be way cool.

Anyone remember that episode of the Simpsons with Clinton and Dole running for president, and they are replaced with alien replicants? Homer reveals this horrifying truth during a debate, and the aliens response is "this is a two party system, you have to vote for one of us!". A guy in the audience stands up and proclaims, "I believe I'll vote for a 3rd party candidate!". The aliens reply, "Go ahead -- throw your vote away!"
