Not all members get the nickname question in profiles June 24, 2005 10:18 PM   Subscribe

How come members whose number is higher than 20149 don't get the explanatory "What's the deal with your nickname?" in their profiles?

Because we don't care about y'all.

If you answer that question on the customize page, it will show up in your profile.

The line had to be drawn somewhere, beta. You should be grateful - the gammas won't get contacts, the deltas won't get webpage URLs, and the epsilons won't even get a gender field.

I got one. My mom always told me I was pretty special. (Before I climbed onto the short bus when going to school.)

And apparently I'm still in the 'teens.

Ryvar, is that a reference to post-apocalyptic distopian science-fiction or a sorority?

It's from Brave New World, Colloquial (nice nick, btw).

Yeah it's a great nick, wish I knew the deal with it though.

Thanks Ryvar. I thought that sounded familiar.

Now I'll have to read The Doors of Perception so I get all the drug in-jokes.

Nomad, I took this off my user page (I don't remember why), but...Colloquial Collision sounds like a pretty good name for a band. Of course, anything sounds like a good name for a band.

So, Colloquial Collision is the name of an imaginary band. I'm sure it's a little more complicated than that, but I'm learning Dvorak, so I've been typing this for the last ten minutes.

I want to know the deal with Rash's nick.

Wait, no I don't.

once Rash masters the "What's the deal with your nickname?" fu, he/she will be the only one to have this in the explanation field:

that's one user number after mine! But 20149 answered the question, too. These 5 dollars noobs need to get with it.

Like #1 said - you need to log in, and "customize" your profile. (don't forget to click on the "change your preferences" box at the bottom.)

Aren't they all sock puppets anyway?

Yes, but we're more sock than puppet.

Thanks for your answers, all. A quick check will indicate that I've learned how to Customize. Civil_Disobedient, I checked various profiles, thought I'd detected a pattern, obviously not. And taz, I guess it's good thing, having a big sister in the MeFi community?

It's a very good thing to have taz as a big sister. I envy you.

I only have her as my Pope.
