Hobgoblins of a little mind
April staff tags are not showing up in Recent Activity. [more inside]
Same look, different result. And who cares about your activity?
This is a two parter. One: there's a disparity in behavior between the search box on the bottom and top of Ask. Two, why isn't 'recent activity' set to nofollow like profile pages? [more inside]
The New Left. No, wait...
Small inconsistency. On members' posts/comments pages, < newer / older>> point opposite to all the regular pages, which are < older / newer>>. Not terribly annoying, but easy to fix, no?>>
[less inside]
On this question, brownpau claims that there is information missing from the original question. However, it's just that the words "[more inside]" are not displayed in the question's page. I've noticed this a few other times; a turn of the phrase that is meant to end in the [more inside] looks out of whack and, until I realize that it's happened again, appears to be have something missing.
Should [more inside] perhaps be placed inside the thread, as well, to lessen confusion, even though, technically, we're already inside?
My Favorite Pony
On the blue, it's a tad odd that "Popular" and "Popular Favorites" are different. I suggest they be combined into a single page which has both FPPs and comments, and also has the (7 days, 30 days, all time) option from the second link.
Please improve the coherence, for the kids
There's a little clickable tab thingy labelled 'My Comments', as well as a 'My Comments' clickable link in the list-of-things-to-do near the top on the front page. Clicking each identically named thing leads to markedly different pages, one of which is useful (the one which puts your comment in context), and one of which is not (the one which just lists the posts you commented on). This is deeply ontologically upsetting.
Also, when you post a thread on Metatalk, the text entry box is labelled 'Description:', rather than, e.g., 'Text:', or 'Post:'. I feel this additional category violation affront is essentially a slap in the face.
Question counted in answer in contacts
When viewing a contact, you might see that they have "1 AskMe Question" and "3 AskMe Answers". But if you click on the linked "3" for the Answers, you will see 1 question and 2 answers listed. It appears that we're counting the question as an answer, also.

3 others? marked this as a favorite
On favorites pages, it says "3 others marked this as a favorite," despite the fact that the user whose page you're looking at is one of those 3 people. Would it not make more sense to say "3 people marked this as a favorite"? I keep wondering where the fourth person is.
"new" link disappears in grey but not blue or green
Why does the "new" link disappear once I've refreshed the page on the grey but not o the blue or green?
Why is Projects top bar different from the others?
Perhaps I missed an already open thread (in which case, I apologize), but I was wondering about the formatting difference between the top bar MeFi projects and the other parts (MeFi, AskMeFi, and MeTa). [mi]
AskMe moves too quickly
I know that the duration of a question's stay on the AskMe front page has been discussed here before, but at the moment there have been 45 (give or take) questions asked today, and only the most recent 25 are displayed. Perhaps the front page should display at least all of a given days questions, even if they are more than 25?
Also, on the AskMe front page, anonymous questions are posted by anonymous, and on the archive pages they're posted by Anonymous Ask Metafilter.

MeFi: 1, 2, 3 years ago.
Being a big fan O' the side blog I noticed that 4 years ago now works as well... Also, Mefi & Blog are both not in the spell check.
Is it better to post little things like this here? AIM? Email? What's the preferred method of submitting little bugs?

Font consistency
The font in MeTa is 8pt, but it's 10pt in MeFi. I'm logged in and the customization is set at 10pt. The values appear in the inline style instructions (font-size for "p" is 8/10pt depending on source). I was messing around with the customization settings yesterday, but this appears when viewing new threads so it's not a cache thing. And I'm using Moz 1.0, but I don't think it's a browser thing because you can see the numbers in the page sources...
font preferences consistent across sites!
As of some time this afternoon my font preferences from MeFi are working in MeTa also. Is this new or is IE just acting up again? I'm in mac OS 9.2, IE 5.1
New Window for Links in MetaTalk?
Currently, there isnt any option for links in metatalk to open in a new window (metafilter of course has this as a customization option). I guess this is because Metatalk isnt expected to have a lot of external links. But I do sometimes run into some pretty interesting links here. Would be nice to be able to open them in a new window.
Customization preferences not consistent across computers
My customization preferences of opening new windows for links works on one computer and not another. (More)
Options in Sort By... dropdown don't show up
Some options on the Sort By drop down list don't show by default. After goofing around, the 'my comments' item shows up. Details inside...
Open more links in new window
I know this has been mentioned previously (but there's no search function in MetaTalk, and I'm too lazy to look the thread(s) up by hand)... Anyway, I've set my preference for links to "Open in a new window". Problem is, the new window command is only applied to the subject link on the front page... not links found elsewhere in the post, or in comments to the posts. I'd really like all links to open in a new window regardless. Is this by design? I'm I whining?
