The first one is always easy.

Vacapinta's first kill. This is going to work out just like we've been asking. I drink (coffee) to the glory of your new might, vacapinta!

It's hard to be a mod.

I think Jessamyn needs a hug. First there was this and then this. I liked the sarcasm of this one and was thankful she stepped into this !narcoterror! thread. Frustration bubbles here and then, in the best delete ever, explodes.

White people on Metafilter

I think it's deleting this link twice shows that Metafilter mods don't have a sense of humour about themselves.

Why is it only axe grinding if certain people say so?

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is an axegrindy HC post. I know it's election time and all, but it's too early for "your favorite candidate sucks" posts and if you have issues with the way other political posts have been handled, it would be better to take those to Metatalk or your own blog. -- jessamyn [more inside]

Michael Vick posts

The Michael Vick plea is a pretty big deal. He's probably going to be banned from football. Why all the deletions of the Michael Vick FPP's? This is, if not on the same level, at the least very close to Pete Rose being banned from baseball. Plus the juicy dog fighting thing, of course. The deletions seem really administrator-specific. Though you may not like sports, lots of people on Metafilter do.

big response

Just curious why yet another Ask Metafilter answer was immediately deleted with no email explanation. Thanks.

Contentious? Please explain...

My post early this morning was deleted because cortex says "What, was the previous thread that you linked not contentious or web-unrelated enough?"

What happened to the Dawkins/Atheist post?

Forgive my ignorance, but what happened to the Dawkins/Atheist post? I was enjoying the article over lunch and when I popped back to the front page, it was gone. Was it a double?

Request that mods sign off on who deleted posts

When posts are deleted and mentioned in MeTa we see something like: "This post was deleted for the following reason: This is way too open-ended. Try again next week with something specific and more focused."

Sometimes it's obviously Matt doing the deleting and sometimes obviously Jess, but as in this example I can't tell and it drives me nuts! Could you guys initial off on these things or something? (It doesn't matter but drives me nuts filter.)

Chatfilter and consistency in moderation

I'm sure this invites a pile-on, but I thought this question in askme was thought provoking and was looking forward to discussion and comment, but it got deleted as "chatfilter." How much more worthy were this or this?

why was my comment deleted

Can whoever deleted my comment in this thread explain why it was deleted with no explanation and other similar comments remain?

More moderation for you

I've deleted mspansel's threads and banned the account from posting again. I've been deleting more posts than ever lately, and I think it's a necessary evil to having such an open posting policy. I've changed my editing tools, so deleting posts or editing someone's bad html is a lot easier now, so expect to see more admin stuff being done in the future. My hope is that things stay on track this way.
