More moderation for you August 21, 2000 2:33 PM Subscribe
I've deleted mspansel's threads and banned the account from posting again. I've been deleting more posts than ever lately, and I think it's a necessary evil to having such an open posting policy. I've changed my editing tools, so deleting posts or editing someone's bad html is a lot easier now, so expect to see more admin stuff being done in the future. My hope is that things stay on track this way.
matt, what are some of the others you've had to delete, just for reference's sake?

chaz - mostly doubled up posts or completely idiotic posts (over the weekend, someone posted their email address as a link, which I caught and deleted moments after it was posted)

Thanks Matt, yours is a thankless job (above posts of thanks notwithstanding).
As a new user, I must say that I enjoy the open format of MF, and think that it would be a shame to have ratings, threads, and other artificial means of directing conversation. It seems that the community can police itself, for the most part.

I've been MIA. What was mspansel posting? Or is that like salt under the bandage?
I agree with Avogadro that some slashmoderating thing would be unsightly and unwanted. I'd rather see you bribe three friends to help you police the place, quite honestly.

Brief summary for those who may have missed it: mspansel posted an advertisement for his commercial website. Typical iliterit spamer garbage, with LOTS OF CAPS LOCK and explanation points!!!!! Worse yet, when people started piling on him for doing so, he first whined about his mistreatment, then started threatening his critics on the site and in e-mail.
