All you need is love

This is a post calling out nobody. This is a post pointing a finger at no one. This is a post in honor of peace, love, and diversity of thought and action. This is a post casting no aspersion or ill will on any others for any perceived malefaction or misdeed. This is a post in celebration of the spirit of generosity and cooperation and the exchange of ideas. This is a post with no links to anyone or anything. This is a MetaTalk post for those who wish to contribute their thoughts, be they holy or unholy, approved or unapproved, controversial or non-controversial. A celebration of Metafilter. A hello and best wishes to the mods and to the members, past and present: those whose accounts are closed, and those whose accounts will always be open. A post for the whole swirling, opinionated, crazy and beautiful community. Big love and happiness to you all, Metafilter.

How does the 'Related Posts' widget work?

Related Posts were implemented two years ago on the Blue. How, exactly, do they work? [more inside]

Keyboard Cat has not been posted befrore

This is not a double/previous post. I actually wanted to post about the fantastic Beachcombing's Bizarre History Blog which has not been featured here before and chose the Katzenclavier [sic] post to introduce it. The fact that there has been a recent post about Katzenklavier has no bearing on my post. It may have some relevance to the previous post but as rivenwanderer said in the comments "the Strange History blog is fantastic". Maybe I should have just posted the general URL of the site but I thought I'd point out a particular post that I found interesting and let everyone explore for themselves as rivenwanderer and I'm sure many others would have. Une leçon apprise. Minor gripe - the 'original post' didn't have katzenklavier in the tags [not that that would have helped considering my cut and paste misspelling, but still].

related posts and questions for posts and questions

"similar questions" as a search tool

When you post a question in AskMe, on preview, you're shown similar questions and asked whether you've seen those. Is there a way to open that functionality up as a search tool? [more inside]

Previously

How about a Previously Box? People often make FPPs and link previous posts. Previously, previously, previously. Pretty Please? Previously (partially). [more inside]

Related Questions should appear in preview

I'd like to suggest that the "related questions" feature of Ask appear in the preview stage of posting a question. It may cause the asker to find their answer pre-posting (great for people who suck at searching, like me!) or rephrase their question in a manner that's more helpful and therefore cut down on the asker having to clarify repeatedly in the thread.

Full disclosure

A few weeks ago, there was a post about two Muslims about to be deported from Britain. Today in AskMe, the poster reveals that one of the potential deportees is a friend of his. Shouldn't this have been disclosed at the time? Is it okay to make posts about your friends?

I would love to see a page that lists the tags related to the threads I have favorited.

I would love to see a page that lists the tags related to the threads I have favorited. My favorites list has become unmanagable, and this would be a great way to navigate / explore what I've saved earlier. I have no idea if this has been asked for previously...

You might post my project to MeFi, but can I add related info?

At some point down the road I will release a project to Projects. I think it's cool and interesting enough that a MeFi post could well be deserved, not just linking to my project but to a number of related sites and documentation. I'm very close to this project, so I can handily write up what I think is a good and wide view of the issue to do more than promote my project. However, I don't want to be accused of self-linking and instead would rather post it to Projects with enough info for someone else to post on MeFi about it. Would suggesting someone do this in the writeup in Projects be going too far?

PS. Additional suggestion for the form I'm currently filling in: "Projects related"

Minor new tags feature.

Minor new tags feature. Look at the page for all posts tagged with flash. See the related tags on the side? Those are words commonly paired up with "flash". Clicking on the names will take you to posts tagged with that term. Here's the new part: see the + sign? That combines the two. Here's all flash posts that were also tagged music.

Is this relationship too close for posting?

There's this site that I visit fairly regularly. The creator of this site creates these cool (IMO) online illustrated one page stories. I think that many folks at MeFi might enjoy the site, but there is (what I perceive as) a problem. One of the sites I write for is one of this guy's front-page links....
