Would it be possible to have the "Contact Activity" feed available as RSS? I always forget it's there until i happen to be on the main page and notice that my friends have been posting cool stuff.

@mathowie: "I think RSS is so important that I'd take a job (leaving MeFi) at any startup aiming to make an improved Google Reader (w/ social features). [...] I'm serious, and feel free to email me. MetaFilter can continue with the employees running things."
I think that this maybe merits some serious discussion here, pronto.

My RSS reader says the
MetaFilter RSS feed is invalid. I'd really like to use it because I've become RSS oriented and I'm not checking MeFi. It could be a problem with the RSS reader, Thunderbird 2.0.24 (I know there are other readers, but TB uniquely meets my needs), but the MeFi feed has worked previously and the
AskMefi RSS feed works currently. I've tried the feeds coming from the
feed.feedburner.com host and the one from
feed2.. Thanks in advance.

My question is how do you manage meta and askmefi? I use RSS for both and given the "living" nature of the threads, I always feel like I'm missing something if I read a thread too soon so I usually whittle the queue down leaving the 100 most recent threads unread. But then I feel like I'm missing out on the more time-sensitive stuff.

I recently added the sideblog RSS feed to my Google Reader page. The title always shows up as undefined.
If you were not aware I wanted to point it out. If you were aware but didn't care, I'm fine with that.

Advice/pony: I often see what promises to become an interesting thread, only to forget about it afterward. is there any way to collect recent activity from several threads, without commenting in them?
Or is it just time to bite the bullet and learn this RSS rubbish?

In Google Reader breaks in text are displaying as brbr and single quotes are not appearing. This is in Firefox and in Chrome (Win7) but not on my phone (Palm Pre).

Metafilter's rss feed
fails the validator. I've seen feedburner.com feeds often fail on mobile devices in the past, well feedburner.com often does weird stuff.

I would like an RSS feed for Ask.Metafilter popular favorites of the last 24 hours. Please. Thank you.

Since yesterday, I haven't been seeing the comment count in the RSS feeds anymore. I've tried in the main metafilter feed and in the popular posts feed. Is it a bug, an oversight, a suppressed pony? Is it just me? Thanks for listening.

Since the "troubles" all of my MeFi feeds have been messed up - posts are being identified in several different feeds etc.
Is the best course of action to wait for things to correct themselves as the deployment wrinkles get worked out or delete the old feed addresses and re-add now that the new servers are deployed?

This is probably obvious, which is why I couldn't find it in the FAQ or the search. Why do people preface their questions with "[blank] filter:"? Does it help future searches and RSS filters?

You might see old MetaFilter posts or comments showing up as new in Google Reader thanks to a new year glitch we fixed today.

I've been playing with a lifestream app, and it would be interesting to be able to pull my metafilter posting/commenting history into that. The most streamlined way for that to happen would be via RSS. It doesn't seem like there's any way to do that currently.
Obviously this is a low priority, but if it's just a matter of flipping a switch, it could be interesting.

I use the "Popular Comments" feed to keep track of all the great things you witty people are always saying. Currently, the title of each comment in the feed is formatted like so:
By orthogonality in MeFi
which does not provide any sort of context for the comment.

I know we've discussed not adding tags to front page posts, but how about the RSS feed? For posts that are somewhat cryptic, it could help with context.

The RSS feeds for comments update in reverse order - with the most recent comments showing up at the bottom of the list (oldest to newest) - unlike the feed for posts where the most recent is at the top (newest to oldest).
Why is this the case?

The MetaTalk RSS feed is showing MeFi front page posts. I'm using NewsGator, and this has only happened (last I checked) within the past 24 hours. Does anyone else have this problem?

Greetings from a neophyte mefite. I was wondering: is there a way to get versions of the RSS feeds which don't include front-page posts that have already been deleted? If not, it's a feature suggestion, so please discuss. Apologies if I'm being dumb and this is simply not possible using RSS.
(For a while I enjoyed the "guess if this post has been deleted" game, but it's getting old...)

Does the thread of all threads (Givewell) break Google Reader? Or is it a feed settings thing here? Or (more likely) am I doing something wrong?
