Can we add muxtape as a social service for the profiles? I bet a lot of mefites muxtapes up.
I agree. So I added it to the What Sites Would You Like To See on the "Also On" MeFi Feature? page on the wiki.

It's like one of those linguistic puzzles where you have to figure out how the sentence makes grammatical sense. Like "fat people eat accumulates" and "Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo."

I read "a lot of mefites muxtapes up" the same way I would read "a lot of mefites fuck shit up."

If i had to make a list of people i would like a mixtape from, it would feature coldchef and flapjax near the top. So i guess the point i'm trying to make is that, yes, this would be a good thing.

Also, just a tiny bit of digging reveals a couple of tasty greasemonkey scripts that let you snaffle tracks. I can't link to them as i'm on my mobile. (CHECK ME OUT!)

Has anything ever been added to the social apps based on that wiki page? It seems more like a graveyard for ponies, especially because there's no way to indicate how popular any of those social applications actually are are amongst mefites. I'd almost rather have a MeTa thread about each app, which would be really irritating but would at least enable more discussion than "this service exists and at least one user liked it enough to add it to the wiki."

The standard process is:
1. Initiation: "Can we add X as a social service for the profiles?" (where X=any social networking site)
2. Response: "Add it to the Wiki!"
3. Item is added to Wiki
4. Ignore
5. Forget
6. Repeat.

I would love to have Muxtapes in the profile, but yeah...The wiki seems to be where good requests go to die.

muxtape doesn't give you a "homepage" or user profile that lists all your muxtapes, so no, it's not like the other social sites listed. It's just a one-off playlist with a random name dot muxtape dot com.

But the only way you can have multiple muxtapes is by using throwaway email addresses, right? The Idea is that you're only supposed to have one, which makes it conceptually the same as last.fm or Librarything or what have you, even if it's used differently by some people.
I'd love it if Muxtapes were the next site to get the Special Treatment, and there were a page I could go to to listen to a stream of tracks recently posted to mefites' muxtapes.
But I know that's wishful thinking.

You have a log in, and you can favorite people and be favorited by people.
I would also love to be able to see mefite's muxtapes. Would be a good feature of mufi?

If anyone really wants to hear my muxtape, it's linked in my profile. I'm feeling nice, so here's a link. The mix has been described as "gay" by an actual homosexual male.

I don't think of Muxtape as a one off thing at all. I try to update my Mux about once a week, and know lots of other people do as well. For me part of the charm is that the limitations (only 12 songs - one Mux at a time) force people to make choices. I don't really care to see a list of all of the songs someone has - but I do like to see what songs they choose to share. It's far more interesting. That's why I still like looking at sites like Art of the Mix as well - but with Muxtape you can see the choices made AND hear them.
It's a crap shoot finding new mux makers worth checking out, and at least a MeFi heads up would give me a starting point and increase the odds of finding more I like.

This, for me, is what would make it a great thing to add to user homepages. Instant access to what the user's listening to at the moment. Sure, it's not "social", but it's a very popular service that a lot of people would love instant access to. Mine.

It'd be interesting if we could somehow gauge the level of interest on those other sites. I'd be willing to bet that there are more MeFites on Fuelly or Etsy or Good Reads than VideoSift (3), Furl (12), or Runner+ (11).

Another use for that wiki page? You could add your MeFi username under each of the services you'd want.

Say what?
I think adding muxtape links to profiles would be a fine idea, though.
