Check your Preferences for the "Open links in new windows?" setting. If it's off and you're still getting that behavior, try flushing your cookies and logging in again. If it persists still after that, it sounds like something on your end.

yeah, it's peculiar as only post links open new windows - metafilter "in site" links open in the existing window

also, googling "root kit android" brings me to bing.
