Help me find cat video December 27, 2011 8:34 AM   Subscribe

If I can find this cat video again, it will make my children happy.

I am not 100% sure I originally found it on MetaFilter, but since I find practically everything on MetaFilter, it's a pretty good bet.

In this video, various cats are shown sleeping or lounging around, and there is either a voiceover or captions saying things like, "Mr. Muffin is a former spy for the CIA," or "Patches is a world-champion surfer," and so on. My kids found this hilarious and want to see it again but I can't find it.

I think it was not the subject of a FPP, but if it was on the site, more likely was something someone linked to in a comment on a cat-related FPP.

Ring any bells?

I don't know, but CAPS LOCK IS HOW I FEEL INSIDE was our trivia team name recently at a meetup. I wonder if anyone else got it.

This doesn't answer your question but it comes close.

It is also the most awesome Mitchell and Webb skit ever.

Is this the Metatalk where people find YouTube videos? I have been looking for a few days for the full-length video of the lady in the Jimmy Kimmel/Christmas video who has 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl), and gives the girl the "Mr. Potato Head and Mrs. Potato Head!" I saw it once and now I can't find it anymore :(

I love how the 'Rick Rick Rick' thing caught on but the 'Jake Jake Jake' thing from Jake & Amir never did. Straight rip, except instead of a subhuman coworker it's a cat.

The "Rick Rick Rick" is from this, which was featured on the blue a while back.

No reason not to do it anyway. I've been to my co-worker for weeks. Except her name is "Martha," so she probably thinks I'm doing some sort of Brady Bunch allusion.

I love Jake and Amir. I sometimes see Amir near my work, doing mundane things like carrying a suit jacket or buying lunch.

Man, After an epic marathon I am almost done with TNG. I am finally at the episode Spot has kittens and then de-evolves into an iguana. What a great episode, it has kittens and a Neanderthal Will Riker. I'm going to be sad when I am done. I will miss Spot most of all.

I thought this was a joke I didn't get, not being into Star Trek, but no, it is a real thing! And it sounds AMAZING: "Spot is notoriously unfriendly to most people other than Data. Commander William Riker once received serious scratches while trying to feed Spot ("Timescape"). Geordi La Forge borrowed her to experience taking care of a cat, but she knocked over a vase and teapot and damaged his furniture ("Force of Nature"). When Data asked Worf to take care of Spot, Worf proved to be allergic to her and sneezed in her face, angering her ("Phantasms")."

I remember doing this bit all the time with my friends in the late eighties. Spike Lee's character, Mars Blackmon ("It's gotta be the shoes!") does this quite a bit in She's Gotta Have It

Straight rip, indeed.

Yep, check out Data's poem Ode to Spot.

When Data asked Worf to take care of Spot, Worf proved to be allergic to her and sneezed in her face, angering her

This is a funny Data scene, I won't got into details why and I am paraphrasing here. When he asks Worf to care for Spot. He says "you have to feed her once a day, she prefers feline supplement 227" Worf replies "I will"
"You have to give her water, and a sand box"
"I will"
"you have to talk to her.Tell her she is a good cat, and a pretty cat"
Worf replies angrily,"I will feed her"
Data says,"Perhaps that will be enough"

Ah yes, the elaborate back stories and voices we create for our cats.

Did I say voices...? I, uh, don't narrate conversations between my cats and myself....

Well, watching that scene again makes me wonder how Spot ever had kittens. Data keeps referring to Spot as he!

Data really is hilarious, even in the early episodes he is sometimes in the background making "get a load of this guy" faces at Riker and stuff. I think they really played up his comic side due to Brent Spiner's personality, he always has this great wry smile on his face even though he is supposedly emotionless.

You are not the only one to have noticed this.

(Note that Spiner doesn't like cats.)
