First Post, Pretty Cool, Not Blue Enough

Halfbuckaroo here, got a hit in Key West for the first time in probably 10 years, and I thought it was groovy as hell and I'm reporting. Bad karaoke at AQUA, and a mefite from Chicago shows up, and it was superior. I thought I was alone, and yet. I'm gratified and delighted. small happiness, and utter delight. Thanks MeFi.

Maybe I am from a different generation, but I read that as, "I am in Key West partying my brains out, got a hit of acid for the first time in 10 years and holy friggin cow I end up singing karaoke when I mention this one goes out to my friends on the blue and suddenly there is an actual friend from the blue in the bar. What a coincidence that would not have happened had I not eaten this hit. When you are tripping, it is the small things that seem big and the big things that seem trivial and well all things seem like all things in some way and it all makes me smile with delight. Also, I have had some drinks, am typing on my phone, and having that expansive love-of-life experience one only gets while traveling. With enhancements.

I don't think there's anything else "hit" could mean than what's been posited here. If I were a mod I would be looking for the delete request email in about 13 hours, but hey. Have a great time, man. Key West is awesome, and I can't wait to get back either. You are a good reminder of why.

It was only Budweiser, but apparently a sufficient quantity of it will produce acid-like results. Jessamyn's Bud-to-English processor interpreted it exactly, as usual. Luckily, no six-toed cats or chickens were harmed during the production.

The Chicago mefite in question will have to out herself, as the quantity of beer also precluded any name retention.

I have no idea how halfbuckaroo sniffed out my metafilterness. There may a be a pheromone signature unique to mefites, which is elevated in the presence of Karoake, or it may be that I'd unthinkingly used the word 'impinged' in the opening sentence of our conversation.
Regardless, it was the most surprisingly delightful thing to find out that we'd been having a secret meet-up... and that I'd randomly picked the one mefite in the bar, or maybe on the whole island, to stand next to.

The real hilarity to me (and apologies if I'm misrepresenting your position on this, Cold Lurkey) is that, I don't know, maybe six months ago, you were just HORRIFIED at karaoke being a regular part of our meetups, and you only agreed to go up and sing because they had XTC in the book. And just look at you now.
