Happy Moderators' Day!

We celebrate Moderators' Day 2014 with a slightly heavy heart, as this marks the first celebration of the holiday (which dates back to 2007) when we have fewer moderators than we did last year. Still, MetaFilter's recent "grassroots fundraising drive" demonstrates that the community and the website are in excellent health going forward, in no small part due to the efforts of our Best Of The Web moderating team, past, present and future (I for one, welcome our robot moderator overlords).

I'll also take this opportunity to repeat an offer I made in one of the fundraising threads. I prefer making an annual donation to a monthly one, and I plan to use Moderators' Day as my reminder to do so. If anyone would like a friendly email reminder to make an annual donation to MetaFilter on every June 13th, please MeMail me or email the address in my profile and I will add you to my list.

MeFites around the globe, please charge your glasses and be upstanding as we thank all of the moderators for their hard work, their patience, and their dedication to the MetaFilter community. Huzzah!

I wish to say this clearly, and emphasise that I mean it literally: if there is any way to send the mods a cookie (and/or doughnut, per preference) that will reach them on this day, I would like to do so. It's been a cantankerous week and a stressful month. Thanks for hanging in, guys, and I hope the dartboards at MeFi HQ haven't been worn through quite yet.

Happy Moderators Day! My standard celebratory tactic for all events is sending e-cards for occasions other than the one being celebrated (my go-to is this effing sweet Canada Day card but there's also a Tax Day card that screams at you which I enjoy for birthdays).

My point is, if any of you would like to receive an e-card wishing you a happy Diwali or congratulating you on your engagement please let me know.

LMs around but not as much. She had some vacation plans that overlapped with the staffing changes. I think gnfti is actually back around as a mod and doing one night shift but someone would have to confirm that for me. I am very much enjoying my real life commenting.

Is it still Moderator's Day where you are? It's not where I am but thank you all for all you do! And thanks to those who have retired for all they've done!

Gnifti answered the contact form for me the day before yesterday (my time, I don't know if it was night shift for him or for you, lately I've been putting in these insanely long days at work and I have totally lost my grasp on time zones, especially because goddamn Daylight Savings started here and ended in the US, in different months). I don't know how much modding he's doing though.

Yeah, he's working a night a week, less than we had before but it's something and also means some relief for taz, which is good news all around. Ideally we can give him some more work and her some more time off in the long run, though we're playing it slow to keep things really conservatively in the black financially while we get stuff settled.

Likewise we're getting LM some US waking-time hours again; I think her first official act as a moderator is gonna be covering for me when I disappear into rural Montana for a week later this month, but the plan is to make it a regular thing when we can figure it out.

@65 satoshi 330 kDOGE -> .2145 BTC and 170 kDOGE -> .1105 BTC = .5 megaDOGE -> .325 BTC as promised.

The first payment went kinda off 'cause Coinbase wasn't able to deal with my realness, when I truncated and sent .214 BTC accidentally then .0005 BTC to match the amount I entered it just decided that the first amount was wrong instead of waiting for the rest like it should, but it also said Metafilter would end up with the coins anyway, so that should be fine. I will yell at them, make sure you get .2145.
