It's not a horrible idea but I think it's unnecessary. Usually the actual post is enough to let you know whether you might want to click through or not. For all intents and purposes, who made the post is unimportant. posted by ashbury at 10:03 AM on December 20, 2002
Use xml.metafilter.com, it has the name of the poster, but doesn't follow the RSS format. posted by riffola at 10:05 AM on December 20, 2002
It was there before. I suppose I could append the title to read "by username" at the end. posted by mathowie at 10:19 AM on December 20, 2002
answer hazy, ask again later. posted by blue_beetle at 1:43 PM on December 20, 2002
Ashbury... I don't agree. No offense, but we've shown on a number of cases right here in MeTa that poster matters: it's all part of the context. We don't let people post links to their own material, we don't want folks shilling for their employers, we don't wan't members of specific organizations pushing those organization's agendas... and so on (ad nauseum). posted by silusGROK at 2:11 PM on December 20, 2002
I agree with ashbury. The RSS feed is simple by design. If you want the granular information, use the XML feed - which has all the information you can shake a stick at. posted by chrish at 7:36 PM on December 20, 2002
vis1on, I was just talking about the RSS feed. As far as the site itself goes, there is definitely a need to know who, if not what, why, how and where. posted by ashbury at 8:28 PM on December 20, 2002
ah. Cool enough. posted by silusGROK at 9:45 AM on December 23, 2002
