oh damn, I see the problem -- I put in code to block tags with a user's own username in them, and grateful is in yours. heh. posted by mathowie at 12:36 PM on August 10, 2005
Works for quonsar, I guess... posted by grateful at 12:36 PM on August 10, 2005
That looks like the reason, since I tried to spoof mat and it stripped out a few choice tags, notably the <div> and <span> tags. posted by plinth at 7:21 PM on August 10, 2005
Not meaning to mess with things too badly. I had tried this several years ago and successfully spoofed CrazyUncleJoe. Glad to see that's been closed. posted by plinth at 7:32 PM on August 10, 2005
PS I love you, mat. posted by plinth at 7:32 PM on August 10, 2005
I totally understand the need for the code to block tags containing a user's own username, but wasn't there a metatalk thread a few years ago showing a correlation between usernames and thread topics? I did a half-hearted search and couldn't find it, but the general consensus was that stavrosthewonderchicken tends to post about chickeny things, while five fresh fish gravitates towards, uh, fishier topics. posted by grateful at 8:07 AM on August 11, 2005
