Most eponysterical post or comment
After seeing this post appear just now, are there other good recent examples of eponysterical posts or comments? The definition in the Mefi Wiki and Urban Dictionary, a 2007 Meta on the origin of the term which is a fun read, a 2005 Meta on such posts and comments and the old list compiled by scarabic.
Eponyappropriate Timing
I made this post about trees/plants in video games and lazycomputerkids made this wonderful comment. And then Joyce Kilmer Rest Area, Imaginary Jersey Turnpike responded and it was like the comment gods had lined up. Searching for other examples of these types of perfectly lined up comments on the Meta.
MeFites, how should we pronounce your username?
Following recent revelations that chris24's handle is pronounced chris-two-four aka christopher, we should probably all learn how everybody's usernames are pronounced, if it's not obvious (or maybe it is and we all collectively just don't see it). [more inside]
WTF Login issue?

Users with numbers in their names.
I've found lately that I conflate three different users in my mind, because all their usernames start wih a number. I know it's not you guys -- it's a problem with my brain, and that you are all individuals -- I think -- but nonetheless. It got me wondering. Are all the numerals one through nine represented? Can we see favourites ordered by number and name?
Is it possible to have a "View favourites by username" feature? On a positive note, it'd require very little in the way of extra coding/templates. [more inside]
One year old and no name.
Alright, this morning some of us were entertained by an FPP which reminded me that we're now one year on from the 100k raffle and jamaro has yet to name the 100k-reserved account. What's up and when can we expect the suspense to end??!? [more inside]

MeFi Mail Feature Request
MeFi Mail feature request: Under the Contacts tab you find the person's username as a link to their User page. I'd love to see that in the Inbox and Sent mail tab's use of the username, as well.
How do I find a lurker?
In the absence of a known user ID, how can I locate the profile of a particular lurker? This person has absolutely no posting/commenting history that I know of, and I've tried all of the search mechanisms for their username. Apologies in advance if I'm missing something obvious!
Sometimes I am someone else
For a moment, I was logged on as another user (darthduckie ? sp) It happened on AskMe, but when I came here, I was lobstah again. I didn't try to post as that user, so I'm not sure how deeply I was logged in. Does this happen much?
Username appearing variously with titlecase and lowercase
Why does my username appearing in the top left corner not match the name that is posted when I comment? My login username is lowercase while the one that appears in comments is titlecase. Live preview displays my name in lowercase as well. I think I used a capital S when I first signed up (which was stupid since I prefer the lowercase s).
Want usernames spelled out
It would be nice if one's username pointed to the spelled-out version somewhere on the front page—maybe on the upper right—so it could be easily found. It's useful for typing in other users' names when you want to see what they've been up to. Much more useful than, say, this.
Can I change my username on MeFi?
Chameleon-Pony Request: Can I change my username on MeFi, or would it forever ruin the MeFi/google/other balance and you'd prefer I don't?
I really don't use this username like... anywhere anymore... I've been around MeFi for a few years now I think, and even back when I registered I was considering ditching this dumb nickname.
Aside from recent weeks where I've been AskMeFi crazy, I've been lurk-ish enough that I highly doubt anyone has any real association with my name (I'm not like ParisParamus, for example) so I don't think it would throw anyone off, really.

I behaved myself, but there seem to be loopholes
Having just made an FPP, I can still get to the posting page by pasting the "post_good.mefi" link. I can also put in any user id and it still gets me into preview. I didn't dare to hit post though to see if that works, but I thought I'd point it out.
Why does mousing over a user's comment show username instead of user number?
In Metatalk and Ask Metafilter, when previewing a comment, mousing over a username produces their /username.mefi/username, instead of their user number. Why? [more inside]
Why does my username appear as it does?

Can we move the byline to the top?
Suggestion for a small format change: how about putting the byline on top of the comment in discussion threads? This would allow us to efficiently skip comments from users we don't want to hear from without resorting to user killfiles, and without wasting precious seconds of I'm-surfing-at-work-and-I-really-shouldn't-be-doing-this time to realize that this is a comment from that guy. Having the byline at the top would save a bit of scrolling and skimming, since you'd know what you're getting into right from the start. Also, some MeFites are "must-reads" for me and I'd like to make sure I don't blow past them.
But not nearly as awesome as "King Shit of Dickmeasure Hill"
The username/logout bit aren't working for me on the blue.

how to lookup user pages by user name
I used to be able to lookup user pages by user name, with the URL "http://www.metafilter.com/username.mefi/mathowie" but now, when I put that in, it resolves to "http://www.metafilter.com/user/1" I know this has been mentioned before, but I can't find the discussion; is there any way to lookup a user's page if you only know their user name (and not their user number), and you can't find a comment they made (in order to just click on their name)?
Profile URLs now going to names not numbers?
I keep a bookmark that ends in the spelled-out version of my username so that I can go to it and type out other users' names at the end if I don't know their user number. Tonight, going to it to find some other user's page, it took me to the page with the URL ending in my user number rather than the word "interrobang".
In the past couple of days, I've also "moused" over other people's names to see who they were--mainly in ask metafilter--and gotten the URL ending in the name spelled out rather than the number. Is this because the standard is soon going to be user pages with URLs ending in names, rather than numbers?

suspicions of transfered username
I have my suspicious that a recently more prolific username is being used by someone other than the original registrant. Are we even concerned about people giving or possibly selling thier usernames?
How can I fix my misspelled user name?
I am an idiot and misspelled my user name. I ignored it first and now it is really bothering me. I need to add another L in the middle, it should be Woollcott'sKindredGal. Any idea how I can fix this without being a pain in the ass to Matt?

Should we be allowed to change our MetaFilter usernames?
Should we be allowed to change our MetaFilter usernames / nicknames? I only ask, because I'd certainly like to change mine, after being ribbed several times for not using British English (because I have 'Brit' in my nick doesn't necessarily mean I'm British). Or would a nick change feature cause lots of problems with people harassing others and then hiding behind new names? Discuss.
Change Username Please
I wouldn't be able to get my username changed from 'ewwgene' to 'eww, gene!', would i? When i signed up, i didn't realize that one could use commas and exclamation points when i signed up.

non-existent username gives error
If you try to manually type in a non-existant username, you get an error. (Example ). Minor issue, really, but I thought I'd point it out.

Search by username
While I'm at it, I'd love to see a users page that would include the list from the members link on the 'powered by' bar, the 'search by user name' think Matt put together recently, and also a seach by username. What other ideas can y'all add.
confusion among similar-looking usernames
Back when I was a regular on the #jeopardy IRC channel, I'd occasionally use the nickname a1exbot to cause confusion with alexbot. Oh, it was great fun. But efaper's attempt to create a straw man's troll for efader is less cool.
Probably no way to counter this. Maybe user profiles can have a born-on date like so many bottles of Bud? This way, old-timers can get the cred they deserve (teehee!), and it can be clear whether a username had been generated that morning for immoral purposes.
