Why is the username case inconsistent? October 16, 2005 8:29 PM Subscribe
Nitpicking: The text that says "You are logged in as: Username" uppercases your username, while everywhere else in the site it keeps it in the original case.
mine tells me who I'm logged in as, and then tells me to logout.

My username is capitalised, but in lower case otherwise.
As it should be, or something.
It is the same in the upper right-hand side of the screen where it says I'm logged in.
Are you sure you're not SMACKFU?

And I meant to say "capitalises", not "uppercases". Oops.

Oooh. We have a winner. I just logged in with some random letters uppercased, and it shows up in random places in the site. (Like in the "Posting as:" text above the comment box.)

as far as I can recall, it's always shown mine in lowercase.
If there's any resolution on what caused this, could someone post it back? I hate bug threads without explanations, even if they don't pertain to me. It's like an unresolved melodic progression.

oh, interesting, I just spotted the answer too -- which I had read previously, but I didn't realize it was the answer.
That should be fixable when you set the login cookie (or whatever).

Lowercase internet handles are for kids! Behold my maturity as I treat my handle as a proper noun, and therefore capitalize the initial letter!

Rather than always lower case make it match the usename. I don't know if we've ever had a studly cap user but I would want them metatalking their wrongly displayed username.

Definitely based on what you enter when you log in.
We now return you to your regularly-scheduled mixed-caps.

"Yes Matt, please fix our insanity with some CSS."
Matt, I can't have sex if the stereo is playing music with male voices. Also I'm afraid of carrots.
I don't know if you'd use a class or an id for those.
