It's the 31st of December, so now is a good reminder to look through all the AskMe's you posted in 2012 and add any followups, as they will start to close over the next year.

Many ask.metafilter questions don't have an "end" to the story. Which questions are you most curious about how they ended?

Newbie MeFi-etiquette: On AskMe, it is considered acceptable to ask for more information/detail about a particular answer on the original question's page?

The end result of
this question just needs to be preserved as a "wonderful AskMe moment." Crushing problem solved in a way neither of us would have considered if it hadn't been for the suggestion in AskMe. Now we know, and the other credit-card-ignorant will know too when they search!

AskMe vent: Is it just me, or does anyone else get frustrated when they answer questions and the asker never comes back to say "Hey, thanks, that's what I was looking for" or "That's not what I meant, but let me clarify" or never comes back to give feedback to the answers in any way? I'm not talking about "anonymous" askers who obviously can't follow up. I mean regular/mundane/normal questions whose askers never bother to respond at all.

In case anyone wondered what happened with the College Admissions Official From Hell (thread
here), an update! Thank you to the good people of AskMe.

The great AskMe folllowup roundup -- sort of a pony, sort of a good idea. People, if you have posted an AskMe in the last year or so (meaning it is still live) and you found the answers helpful, and something happened as a result of the AskMe, many people are curious to know what the end result is. Going back, marking best answers if you haven't done so, and telling us what the heck ended up happening would all be much appreciated.

Feature request: Some visual way to easily tell where the original poster has posted a follow-up comment. Often in reading an Ask MeFi question, I have to scroll back up and down a few times to get the name of the original poster and then do a search to see if they posted a follow-up.
Perhaps a different color for the original poster? It works well for comments marked "best answer". (Oh - and a pony)

Just wanted to give massive shout-outs to everybody at MeFi who have patiently answered
many of
my questions about moving from the US to Canada. I'm a week away from that move, way nervous, but infinitely better prepared due to your valuable feedback. Thank you!

UPDATE: My SO with the
aneurysm survived brain surgery. I didn't know if this was appropriate to post here, but the askme response was so comforting. It was the middle of the night and I felt really alone. Now she's home, having survived a craniotomy, and doing great. So, it's late at night again and I'm awake and she's asleep with her giant Frankenstein scar and I wanted to say thank you.

A few weeks ago, I posted a question about our
mountains of returnable bottles. Just thought I'd mention the outcome...two days after my post, we found a flyer attached to our doorknob. The local high school was collecting returnables as part of a fund-raiser for a student whose house had burned down. We hauled our many (many!) bags of bottles out to the curb as directed. We weren't there when they were collected, but a few days later our next-door neighbor caught me outside and mentioned that he'd been present when the kids came around to collect the bottles, and one of them yelled "Hey, jackpot!" to the others when they hit our curb.
No particular point of this post, I guess, other than it was somewhat serendipitous timing that I had all our bottles bagged and had just posed the question as to what the heck to do with them.

There's a
thread in AskMefi that may be a candidate for deletion or at least expunging identifying info. It includes personal info of third parties and asks if a business is a "scam" with no evidence/logic. And after this inflammatory claim there is no follow-up by the OP.

Wish we had a follow-up on
this thread — guy sounded like a psycho (as you might imagine from my response). The user apparently hasn't posted since then.

This recent AskMe Question about being a bone marrow transplant donor is very inspiring (
Matty's marrow is apparently going to help a one year old child), and has sparked a bunch of people (me included) to
sign up on-line to be a marrow donor. MeFi has a wide reach - can this maybe get a sidebar or some extra attention in hopes that more MeFi readers (especially those of non-white heritage) might sign up?

Today I get interviewed by a lawyer about
this post. Not specifically about that incident, but as supporting evidence to try and get the store in question to settle a different court case. The lawyer has told me that the security department has already admitted to criminal behaviour. Considering that this event occured at least 5 years before I made that post, I've already expressed how little I remember. I expect to say "I don't remember" a lot. I just bring this up as a reminder that people outside this board can and will read whatever you post (remember our own
shoplifting community?).

A followup and thank you for two AskMe posts:
here.
1. I don't have cancer. Yay! Recovery from surgery was a bitch though.
2. I have a daughter named Molly. Yay! Named with good advice given in another AskMe thread (pick something everyone knows how to spell, but few people are using).

I'd love to see a "conclusion" feature to many of the askme questions. For instance, even if it's months later, I could go into a question I asked and mark it "concluded" and give a quick summary of what happened when I followed the advice.
Once someone marks something "concluded" it would go to its own "conclusions" RSS feed, which we could subscribe to if we want to know "the rest of the story" on many of the questions asked.

Follow Up... I asked MeFi if I should take part in a 40 mile walk. Thanks to your advice, I did, and this is how it went.

Don't get me wrong -- I want to know how stuff on AskMe turns out. I don't think MeTa is the ideal place for that, though. What about allowing askers to post a followup in their own threads, even if they'd been closed & archived, which would put that thread on a new page, like the "fantastic posts" page we have now, which could be called "resolutions" or "how'd it turn out" or some such.

I just wanted to say thank you to AskMeFi / MeFi in general. I've asked several questions and usually gotten great help. Specifically, I asked
this one a while ago about neighborhoods in Chicago, and I have an update [more inside].
