It's possible to find the most favorited post of all time but is it possible to find the most favorited comment of all time? Or a ranking system that does something similar to the post system (week, 30 days, all time) for comments?

A thought: how about adding a post specific "favorite" tool for the blue (et al). Kind of an open "mark as best answer" for individual fpps. [more inside]

Last Five Favorite posts from ___'s contacts & Last Five Favorite comments from ___'s contacts does not match up with Favorite posts from ___'s contacts & Favorite comments from ___'s contacts. I guess it's vaguely possible that this is because "Last" works on when something was favorited as opposed to when the favorited thing was posted, but the discrepancy is pretty large and I think there's a bug there.

Pony request: When previewing comments, can we please still be able to favorite & flag other comments in the thread? Or is there a reason otherwise?

I favourited a comment in AskMe that was later deleted. I'm NOT writing this to complain about the deletion, for while I may not agree with it I can understand why it was removed, however the comment was long enough so I can not read all (most) of it on my favorites page and I kind of would like to be able to reread it as I thought it was fairly well written. Pony request: being able to favorite comments from the Recent Activity page? [more inside]

Help me tame this pony...ok, so I'm a bit addicted to adding favourites. I know I have a problem, but gosh darn it, why does there have to be so much great stuff!? Does anyone have any scripts, apps, anything that can help me deal with the backlog of my favourites? I've googled and searched but haven't checked Projects as much - has someone created something there to deal with favourites? It would be neat to be able to export them or bulk add them to del.icio.us, or something...export them to an XML file (if that's possible) or CFM or whatever format and somehow create a hack to manage them. Does something to manage them exist? Is it on the horizon? Should it be? Discuss. Thanks muchly.

Why not make a page that ranks users based on how many "favorites" their comments, FPPs, and questions garner? I'm not sure hard how this would be to create, but it might be a nice incentive to post quality items. Also, it would highlight some of the dedicated, and/or imaginative members of Mefi. Just a thought.

If someone marks post number x as a favorite, and someone else marks comment number x as a favorite, they both end up on the same "n users marked this as a favorite" page, even though they're referring to different items.

Problems on "contributions by userx that were saved as favorites by other members" pages: example
1) New favorites (such as today's) are not being added to this page.
2) Clicking on "next page" just reloads the same page even though the url lists it as page 2. Page progression is fubared.

so I accidentally favorited one of my own comments, and yet that comment doesn't show up on my favorites page so I that I can remove it. What's the deal? I don't want to be a self-favoriter.

Hey facetious, I have a question, and there's no email address in your profile: Why did you go into a 10-month old thread on Sunday night and mark 267 consecutive comments as "Favorite"?
posted by NotMyselfRightNow on Sep 4, 2006 - 89 comments

On favorites pages, it says "3 others marked this as a favorite," despite the fact that the user whose page you're looking at is one of those 3 people. Would it not make more sense to say "3 people marked this as a favorite"? I keep wondering where the fourth person is.

I just went to remove a favorite, and while it successfully removes it, it continues to redirect to the same URL forever. It looks like the "add favorite" link for posts (but not comments) tries to do the same thing, but stops after one reload to tell me that the favorite has already been added.

Who's the Poet Laureate of MetaFilter? Sure, we have eloquent and witty members by the dozen, and everyone appreciates their stellar prose. However, our poets deserve recognition and a thread of their own. So, who's the most lyrical among us? I've said before that thomcatspike is the ee cummings of MeFi, and he may be, but stavrosthewonderchicken called me out here for saying so, claiming that clavdis is unequalled. All right, so we have two nominations. Any others? Favorite moments from these two or any other nominees?

We seem to be in the midst of another "what's your favorite X" mini-epidemic: a link which varies from interesting to trivial, followed by an invitation to opine. This time it's sandwiches, beverages, newspapers, snacks, arcade games, amusing childhood beliefs. I won't bother to criticize--we've covered that ground many times here already. But I think it's interesting how when these things happen, it only takes one precipitating post to generate several others, seemingly on a "yeah! And hey, what about this?" principle. What's your favorite favorite-X question?

Every now and then, I run into an old, really interesting Metafilter thread posted by someone or other on to a current thread. e.g. This posted by nprigoda today has some very interesting links.
I think it would be good to find out some of the most interesting threads from the past. So ....What is your favourite mefi thread? (Since I suspect most people have been bookmarking some of their favs)

Just to let you know, in response to a lot of requests, I'm working on a personalized version of metafilter. No two members will see the same entries because it's going to start catering to your needs. If you like member A's links and comments, they'll get floated up. If you don't care for member B's argumentitive tone, they'll disappear from sight, and their comments will be hidden from view.

Once it's done, it's going to rock.
