Why is there no line break before the (more inside) part in AskMe RSS? [more inside]

The rss feed for "ask metafilter" tagged empty sets returns an error. (For Example.) I wanted to add a bunch of esoteric tag links to google reader that would allow me to answer those questions that I consider myself an expert in. This works fine in those situations where questions currently exist for the specified tag, but not so good when nobody has asked a question about that subject before.

AskMeFi RSS feed: Could use some sort of delineation between the question text and the More Inside text.

For some reason the Ask Metafilter RSS feed quit working for me a few days ago. I'm reading it through Bloglines and the last post which shows up is from November 22, 2006 at 6:54am. Is anyone else seeing this issue?
posted by dgeiser13 on Nov 26, 2006 - 15 comments

It's a pony, but one a lot of people would want to ride, I hope.

I'd love to see an RSS feed of the comments of AskMe questions I post (and for that matter, blue and grey too, though separately), so that I can keep an eye on the responses to me over time.

Er, is there a problem with the AskMe RSS feed? I haven't gotten anything in at least two days, despite MeFi and MeTa feeds working fine.

I'm viewing in Google Reader, if that matters.

Just in case you were wondering "how often is that AskMe feed really borked, anyway?" [more inside]
posted by AmbroseChapel on Aug 20, 2006 - 104 comments

I would have just used the RSS feed, but I'm adamant about the "unanswered questions" thing, and the feed doesn't show best-answered threads. The Ask Metafilter RSS feed excludes questions where a best answer has been marked? That would be good if the purpose of the RSS feed was to expose unanswered questions to potential answerers, but if its purpose is to disseminate useful information, then best-answered questions could then presumably only be viewed through the site ... which defeats the purpose of having an RSS feed, doesn't it?
posted by WCityMike on Aug 11, 2006 - 12 comments

Not a complaint ... but Ask MeFi has pretty much exploded in frequency, and it seems that it's now not unusual to be seeing nearly a hundred questions a day. For those who read it via the RSS feed, that's a helluva lot of questions to sort through. This isn't meant to be precisely a question, but anyone have any thoughts?

Sigh. I think the ask.metafilter rss is borked again.

I get this message:

XML parsing failed: syntax error (Line: 1, Character: 0)

with no updates for the last 3+ hours. Not that I'm addicted or anything.

Is it just me, or is the AskMe RSS Feed reported to be broken on BlogLines more often than not?

"The feed URL returns a page that does not look like an RSS feed. This can be caused by the feed URL being incorrect, or it can be caused by a configuration issue with the server hosting the feed. If this error continues, you should check the feed URL and, if it is wrong, subscribe to the correct URL."

Ask feed in Bloglines has been borked all weekend.

feedvalidator gives the following warning:

This feed is valid, but may cause problems for some users. We recommend fixing these problems.

Love/Hate: I can't read AskMeFi (CSS help?). Does anyone have an external CSS file or a setting or a magic pixie dust that makes these pages we're on more readable?

I tried posting this question to askmefi, but got prompted with a "prob better on metatalk" denial. There is no Category for help, so I'm putting this under feature requests...

I'm using firefox (which offers more solutions) to read these pages and I find the colors, indentation, lack of structure so hard to follow. I would love something that had alternating row (posts) colors and a way to really tell the difference between a post, a comment, a response, whatever.

Any usability specialists out there with the same beef? I love the content, its just the presentation that drives me batty. (I do use RSS to choose what to read, but once I click in...boomsucka...I feel like I'm in a all green library with green books green carpeting a couple yellow magazines and no cataloging of any sort.

I've got this "developer" extension for firefox installed so I can change/tweak/alter a lot of things including fonts, external css files, whatever. Please send help...I'm sinking.

Can we have a separate RSS feed showing only answered questions?
posted by Mwongozi on May 20, 2005 - 7 comments

When I subscribe to the Ask Metafilter rss feed (using Firefox's Live Bookmark feature) only the title tags show, making the list come up as Question #123523, Question #675745, etc. Could the description tag be copied to the title tag in the RSS feed? Maybe the first 25 characters and then a "..." if necessary? Is there another way of seeing questions using this? Thanks.

Individual RSS/Atom feeds for Ask MeFi would be a good place to test the feasibility for the rest of the MeFi network. Besides, at the moment - Ask Mefi is the site that has the most need for people to easily track responses to their posts. It's also the least trafficed of the 3 sites, (I believe) and will allow Matt to get a decent idea of how implementing individual feeds will affect the entire site.

Or....just do a drive for a new processor/ram for the server so we can implement them across all 3 sites. ;)

RSS for AskMefi and MeTa: Do they exist or am I just missing them? If they don't exist, can we have RSS-flavored ponies? If they do exist, can they be made more plain? How many past discussions of this topic have I missed? What other interesting facts will I learn inside? Fezzy minds want to know.

AskMeFi-related: Would it be possible to change the RSS feed from AskMeFi to put an excerpt of the question in the title tag, or whatever it is that's appearing in my Thunderbird newsreader as "Question number [#]"?

So, I'm addicted to Ask, aka the green.

What I really want to do is subscribe to the comment threads - when a new post occurs, I want someone to run into my office (my home, my bedroom, whatever) and shout up and down the answer is here. Or there was a followup question. (6 new) just doesn't help - especially if a thread a scrolled off page.

Or it could be a little link on the homepage (customized for me for threads I'm watching/participating in.)

I've just started playing around with NetNewsWire Lite, and was wondering... are there RSS feeds for MetaTalk and AskMe?

I've been searching, but maybe I've been looking in the wrong place...

Thanks.

The Ask Metafilter RSS feed seems to be displaying anonymous questions before they are approved to be displayed on the website itself. (Nobody panic, though; it does not reveal the identity of the person posing the question.)

I did not like the way the current AskMeFi RSS feed had the titles (Question xxx), so I created a new feed that shows the first 100 characters of the question as the title.

Here is the RSS 0.91 feed
