How do I review my past comments? November 24, 2005 12:45 AM   Subscribe

How do I review my past comments? It was easy enough with the old layout. Now, when I click the 'My comments' link I can find out which threads I commented in, but I can't find any link to the comment itself. What am I missing?

"my comments" is more like "recent comments - 10 to be exact - in threads in which I have left a recent comment"

Took me a while to figure out what the heck I was looking at, too, but the 10 most recent comments from threads in which you've commented may not contain a comment by you. Are you lost yet?

I think it's actually supposed to be something like: "here's what's going on in the threads you're interested in" though right now the only proxy for "interest" is having left a comment.

I think "recent comments" is modelled after Flickr's "Comments you've made" page. Which might certainly be modelled after somewhere less high-profile.

Gyan, clicking on your username is tricky when the "logged in as ..." link seems to have vanished as well! I could only verify that you were correct becuause I happen to have already commented in this thread, which seems to defeat the object...

I still see the "You are logged in as"... but it's only on the main page, not on pages for a given thread.

"My Comments" differs fundamentally from the comment listing under your user name. It allows you to keep up to date quickly in the threads in which you have been commenting by showing the last few comments in the last few threads in which you have commented. After AskMe, this is my favorite MeFi pony. Of course if your comment was more than ten comments from the end it will not show in "My Comments." As for your username, you can click on it anywhere you see it, after your posts and comments for example.

Maybe a "My Profile" link is needed up there?

I can't find any link to the comment itself.

I've asked for this pony a couple of times now, for "since your most recent comment" to be a link thereto. Now that there's two people asking about it...?

I think the My Comments thing is meant to show replies to your comments, although showing the latest comments rather than the immediate replies when there's more than ten screws up that theory.

By god, an explicit link to your userpage from My Comments would be just the thing!

The front page has always been the only place to see your profile. I could add a My Profile link, or put a line of text explaining what the page is, or put a link to your username in the header on every page. I'll think about it and try something after thanksgiving.

Your clickable username also heads the comment box. So as long as the thread hasn't been closed your good to go.

I think the pony I'm asking for is rather smaller. You already have the words "since your most recent comment" on My Comments; I just want those last four to link to what they describe.

I would really love to see the ability to remove a thread from your "recent comment" page. It would be nice to have a choice and be able to filter out threads that you're no longer active in - unless the "favourite threads" feature is supposed to supplant the current page.
