Can the checkmark for best answer be a link? February 15, 2006 9:51 PM   Subscribe

Can we make this a link: ? Cuz I always try to click on it whenever I see it, and it's driving me a little nuts. And it would be super convenient and save me a little scrolling when I just want to see the Best Answer. Yeah. Ponies!

No! That would ruin all my plans!

What about multiple best answer posts?

luftmensch: then we can get more fabulous check marks next to the post! why not? well, it would have to be capped at a reasonable number since some long threads get many many best answers, but it would still work... or it could be number... or a check mark and then a series of bolded dots.

That would look terrible. How about a link to the first checkmarked post? If anything it means people will try harder to have the first insanely informative post in the thread.

You are right about one thing, though - I'm sick and tired of not being able to click on those things.

The first best answer idea is a good one, Ryvar.

This was discussed before, though without resolution.

Or howzabout: The check mark is a link to the first best answer. The first best answer has a little link under it saying "see next best answer." And so on.

a link to the first best answer is a good idea, it's just a bit of tricky sql to do a sub-select and get that comment ID number from. I'll look into it today or tomorrow.

Maybe all the checkmarks should link to this thread.

I thought there was a "view only best answers" mode for thread viewing. If so, why not have the checkmark link to that view of the thread and be done with it?

If such a thing doesn't exist, never mind. Obviously I don't use it anyway.

cortex, you're thinking of page showing just questions with "best" marked answers, which is something else again.

Ah so.

Definitely second the link to the first best comment idea -- I too have tried clicking so that I can jump. (Actually got used to this style of behavior after using MetaFilthy for a little while).
