How about signing the reason on deleted threads so we know who to bitch to?

There's only 2(3?) people who can delete threads. Why not just copy them both on the e-mail?

I delete all the threads. If you want to bitch about them, my e-mail is in my profile.

I randomly delete other Mefites.

How 'bout "don't bitch"?

You should just complain here in MetaTalk, or as I call it, the Jessamattex Court House.

Maybe you should just stop bitching.

Please delete this thread, Oh great and mighty Unknowable Deleter of Threads!

Isn't mathowie generally responsible for MeFi deletions and jessamyn for deletions in the green?
But if you're asking because of a deletion that took place today: jessamyn's on vacation, so assume that it was mathowie's work.

keswick, the specific deletion you're asking about was Matt's work. I've been nuking obvious doubles so far and that's about it; for more qualitative calls on the blue, I might ping him if something catches my eye at this point. In general, bugging him is probably the first stop for that sort of thing.

I don't know if signing the deletion reasons would be a good thing or a bad thing or what. It wouldn't bother me much one way or the other, but as Matt and Jessamyn have not started doing so despite plenty of opportunity, the tacit policy may be "nope".

i hadn't heard that amro, but i fade in and out around here, so i could have missed it.

also, i dont think it is possible for me to stop bitching; it's like air and caffeine to me now.

Well, I had no idea that cortex is an admin now, so I'm no sort of authority.

keswick, it was a lame post to a CNN article used to bolster your own musings. It was flagged to death and it sucked. Get over it.
posted by mathowie (staff) at 8:57 AM on February 28, 2007

Only dedicated readers of select meta threads know. Jess is out of town, so I'm helping out; it may be more accurate to say I have, for the moment, admin rights.

yes sir, fuhrer haughey!

i assume the double post will be deleted too then?

Begun this clone war has.

I was just thinking that shit FPP could use an equally stupid MeTa to accompany it.

Keep up the good work, kessie.

I think this last Keswick post definitely justifies a one week timeout.

Keswick, it's Matt's back yard. If you don't like his rules, go play somewhere else.

im sorry, i guess all those lame cnn articles i saw on the front page to justify other people's musing were part of my fevered imagination

No, because they actually linked to more sides of the story including possible causes, instead of a one-off CNN article. It's well-written and it would have stayed last night if your post looked like that.

BTW, while jessamyn's journal says she is in Manhattan, Kansas, she is in fact in Australia. And if it is a "vacation" it is more than likely a working vacation. I am pretty sure she is giving a few talks in addition to spending quality time traveling with her sister.

We now return you to keswick's bitching thread....

I've never seen another member link to their own comments and then to CNN to basically say "see?! I was RIGHT!"
posted by mathowie (staff) at 9:09 AM on February 28, 2007

okay, next time i'd be sure to add a wikipedia link to my FPPs.
posted by keswick at 9:10 AM on February 28, 2007

if you had read the thread before you deleted it, you would have seen that linking to my comment was a mistake, and i meant to link to the overall FPP. but nooo, keswick wrote it, it must be crap! *delete*

I'm surprised that it took this long since Matt announced Cortex becoming a moderator for people to start revolting.
posted by Dave Faris at 9:12 AM on February 28, 2007

yes sir, fuhrer haughey!

Because, see, Matt is like Hitler! MeFi is like the Nazi party! Blue is like red! Cats are like dogs! keswick's like a rational human being!

Right keswick, it's totally a personal thing because you and I both know it was an amazing single link CNN article so perfect I thought for a moment I saw God himself.

As to your original request, yeah, jessamyn has been asking me to do this for a couple months, to clear up any confusion between us and the users, so I'll probably whip it up today.
posted by mathowie (staff) at 9:13 AM on February 28, 2007 [1 favorite]

Come on, Dave, they've been revolting for years now.
