I could swear I saw an FPP arguing that Dubaya isn’t really there at all in the conventional sense of being there. Then I left and came back, and it wasn’t there anymore.
So is this an in joke with the moderators or what?
It was a double-post, and doubles usually get deleted.

How can someone be a member of the site for more than two years, know how MetaTalk works well enough to come here & ask a question, and yet still not know about deleted posts, lofi, greasemonkey, etc, etc.?

You mean deletedthread.blogspot.com? Never heard of it.
And the MeFi Deleted Post Greasemonkey Script for Firefox? Nope. Never heard of it.

I've been here for like 6 years, and have no fucking clue about this greasemonkey thing, mainly because I don't generally have to install "peripheral" things in order to read websites.

And now, some ironically (though presumably innocently) thematic doubledom posts.

Ya, to be fair, I never paid attention to greasemonkey stuff till a couple months ago out of boredom. Now I know that my current noobitude is 55%. Yay.
Also, I happened to catch a mention of deletedthreads in a MeTa thread and bookmarked it. It's nice to visit my deletions and say hi. Then I installed the greasemonkey for deleted threads, so I can laugh at the losers who get deleted.

And not only that, cortex, but I posted a second shipwreck-related thread to the front page. That's right! I'm callin' myself OUT!
Actually... pretty dissimilar in theme, but shipwreck-related none the less. At least it's not a delete-worthy double like my last post.

The only way to win the deletion game is to not play at all. QED.

I don't know what greasemonkey or lofi are either, but I just usually don't go to MeTa to tell everyone about it, so on the internet no one knows I'm a n00b.

On reflection, I don't know what's worse, being deleted, or having your thread stagnate with few comments. Even though I tell everyone else not to worry about a lack of comments, and that number of comments is not equal to the quality of the post, it sure does suck when it happens. I think I just might be on the way to setting some sort of record for lowest average number of comments per FPP.
