Per-thread new message count March 21, 2008 8:50 PM Subscribe
It might be nice on the main page to see the number of new messages on a per-thread basis.
I think it would be more logical if the number of "new" comments counted from the last time I read a given thread, rather than the last time I visited MeFi / MeTa / AskMe. (Specifically, I'm talking about the "x comments (y new)" string after each FPP.)
This seems like the sort of thing that may have been requested and quashed many times. I pre-accept any shame I am due.

isn't there a greasemonkey script for this? I think there is a greasemonkey script for this, cause I seem to have the ability to do what yr suggesting, ~. I'll look around. And probably slink off in shame.

Well if what matthewr is pointing to is what is giving me this extra-meta ability, no wonder it seemed familiar (thanks to Plutor).

Rats. I knew it in me bones I did that I couldn't be the first to want this, even if search failed me. (Thanks for the link, matthewr. Well, worth the shame, if not the shaaaaaame.)

Yeah, only 20% of threads were deleted! Which is great! 'cause those are the ones I read first, fer shame.

I have lots of extra shame I can loan. Not particularly pertaining to MeFi, but I'm sure it can be worked in there somehow.

I have an oversupply of guilt, which I will exchange for a modicum of shame.

I have no shame.
That's why I attend meetups without any pants. Saves time, later.

What I can't recall is whether someone wrote a greasemonkey script to handle it on the client side.
