Calm MetaFilter extension June 4, 2018 3:56 PM   Subscribe

After posting my Calm Twitter extension to Projects, I figured I ought to make one for MetaFilter as well. Briefly, it is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that guides you through a deep breathing exercise before confirming that you really want to submit that comment. Example GIF of it in action.

I decided not to show the Breathe button if you've already clicked Preview, but open to suggestions.

If requested, I can also add preferences to turn it on/off by subsite. Maybe even just for politics megathreads?

Let me know if you encounter any bugs. Cheers!

Could you make a version of this with two of those things on a cat's face so it looks like a cat is going into pounce mode?

Thank you! This is amazing.

It's just the right size and frequency of breathing slowing for the purpose required.

For anyone who doesn't like the preset values, you can change the breath count, pause between inhalation/exhalation, and duration of each inhalation/exhalation from the extension options menu.

Question for those here: would you rather the breathing step occur before you even type anything?

I forgot I installed this, just used it accidentally, and automatically started deep breathing.

Christ. There it goes again.
